Aside from going to Mammoth almost yearly for the past 25 years I started going to the other side of the range to Vermillion Valley (Lake Thomas Edison) the past couple years. My profile pic (not the ALF avatar, in my profile.. haha) is at Devil's Bathtub near Lake Thomas Edison. Also hiked Whitney this past July and camped/hiked at Onion Valley. Beautiful country all over there, I really need to make time to go riding up there this summer.

Bishop, the entire eastern Sierras for that matter are gorgeous. Just a bit north of SoCal.

That's an awesome pic! Yes, the Sierras are a real gem.
So....how thin was the air up on Whitney?

I didn't have any issues with the thin air but I passed plenty of people who did. Didn't spend too much time up on the peak because a storm rolled in and it started snowing along with more static electricity in the air than I would ever want to feel again.

I thought all that looked familiar. You didn't post the location to correlate to the photo's. Hope your bud's healing up.

I felt buzzing in my hands because I was holding trekking poles. My uncles hair on his knuckles singed and a younger guy who walked up towards us had the hair on his head sticking straight up as if someone rubbed it with a balloon and held it over him. The buzzing in the air was eerie and scary, damn near messed my choners. Finally I yelled for everyone to run off the peak (there were probably 6 other people besides my uncle and me) and my uncle said he went to clip his pack and when he looked up I was already 100 yards down the trail.

Not gonna lie, it was one of the scariest moments of my life because I know all about electricity on peaks and how that is one of the biggest dangers of climbing.

Not to mention, hikers have died in electrical storms up there while in the shelter, thinking it was safe.

For sure. There were 3 military dudes up there with us and one of them freaked out and ran in there, his buddies had to convince him it wasn't safe. I think when he saw everyone running he got the hint too.

I enjoy it simply because it's different than most bikes you see on the trails. Surprisingly, it rolls very well down a hill and climbs decent, too. I'm very happy with it. The only thing I'll most likely change down the road is the fork - I would love to find a suspension fork that works.

haha I'm in the city of moorpark. We did have a bad ass little course back here for our 50s and 110s back in the day; but I decided to just hit the hills on the tractor and make. Some easy flowing trails

Really? Damn, small world! And that would be cool, I'll let u know! We're currently digging out a road that will access the majority of the land so once we can get our pathway over there the building can commence!

I bought a 2006 Bit Hit Last week and took her for a quick spin around Calavera on Tuesday to test her out before hitting the San Juan Trail on Wednesday. The weather yesterday on San Juan was perfect for riding, views of Catalina and San Clemente Islands.

The big hit is a bit too much bike for the San Juan trail since she does not climb at all, but I still had a good time trying out my new bike. Now I am ready for Big Bear! Come on Snow, MELT!

Rattle Snake Trail in PV - YouTube

    So Cal DH - YouTube

Telephone Pole Trail Crash in PV - YouTube

That's what happens when your stem is not tight enough, the front wheel tucks under braking while my bars stay straight, (steerer tube spins on the stem) and I get launched!!! Ouch!!! Pyle driver into the dirt, good times.

I know that exact spot and if you were to look directly up and to the left there used to be a Red Tail hawk nest at the very top of an old dried up 70' tree.

    Sweet shot!

I'm probably wrong, but I'm guessing Las Ramblas/Dana Hills.

    Old Ray's bike!!!!

My attention to detail is slipping even further.....I just noticed the punchline of your post. Lumosity.com must be right.....I AM in the bottom 25% of my age group.

But your post does beg the question; if I win, do I get to pick which one of my bikes I can have? (Not that I'd ride it any more than I currently am!).

Oh, and the unseasonable weather is making it look like I'll be driving up to BLT this Sunday, unless somebody drops a cigarette butt on the forest floor between now and then, that is..

That trail is so fun but yeah, you gotta watch that rock section. It kinda pops out and messes with your flow. Almost got my buddy yesterday!

The weather was perfect for your Las Antenas ride yesterday! We're planning to get that in one of these days! Great job!

Yup! Nice little downhill. A lot more fun when you go down all the way from the top of Santa Rosa at Wildwood to the bottom.

Fellas, we need some damn rain. Trails are incredibly too dry for this time of year. Felt like I was riding in sand today.

Check post #2728 for the report and vids from that ride in the link below. I post all of my reports/vids/pics/stats in my bike thread in Off Camber. We've got a fun group of people from all over the world in there. We help each other out with bike stuff and share builds, reviews, rides, and experiences. It's like a mini MTBR within the website. Check it out:
