    Shoes

Need a new pair of shoes. Which local shop has the best/most selections? Thanks in advance, Mitch

Do you ride platform or clip-in pedals?

I have clip in but actually looking to try a something with more of a shoe feel, like the Giro Terradura. I like to clip in on climbs but don't like to stay clipped in on entire descent so loogking for a good rubber/vibram sole and not the hard rubber/plastic type shoes of old (like I have now) to help grip on the downhills when not clipped.

I never have used clip-ins...always platform pedals, probably cuz I am a non-racing/non-STRAVA XC rider.

I have a good pair of hi-tec hiking shoes ($50/pr) I use that work really well...they are grippy, comfortable, semi-pliable (not too rigid like clip-in shoes), and are H-A-B ready if you need to!

At my age (50+), you don't need to 'race' uphill anymore, hence no real need for clip-ins.
Just getting up the hill (any hill) is hard enough! I used to go faster uphills when I was younger, but as you get older, you tend to slow down and want to enjoy the uphill. By "enjoy" I mean: cleaning an uphill...which means, staying in the saddle no matter how slow you go!

As they don't have my size (13) in most sports/LB stores, I had to buy them online.

Local to where? SoCal is a big place.

I recently got a great deal on some new shoes at Performance in Vista. They have about 30-35 different pairs of shoes for sale.
