    SGDC race next weekend

Planning on racing for the first time next weekend and wondering if I need to register early or just do it the day of the race?

If you can register early its easier on everyone. If you want to register the day of the race, just get there early.

Thanks PainCake, guess I will just register now. Does it matter what class I sign up for? I am guessing I would be beginner since this is my first race. Getting pumped already!

Hey! I'm getting ready for my first race too. Well sorta anyway. It will be my first race in 9 years.

Unless you literally leave everyone in the dust on your trail rides, start beginner. The beginner class my have more than one name also. Sometimes its "Novice". It should be easy to figure out on your registration form, it's usually the class on the bottom of the list. Just remember, its all fun...

Hey, don't sweat it. This event will be fun and low key! I'm actually surprised Mike hasn't responded yet.

This race last year was my first one in about the last 14 yrs.

Any reason why? I just talked my father-in-law to give it a shot. Oh yeah, what about the check I sent off yesterday?

Something about the race official being sick. It is open for riding sat and sun for 20 bucks a person though.

Bummer. But my bike got recalled so I was going to ride the GT. It would have been a first for either bike, and me since 2002. Well there's always the 12 Hours of Temecula! (Jan 23rd)

I raced the same race last year and less than 5 people showed up to the xc event. It was SAD. I raced there earlier in the summer of 08 and there was a ton of people and it was around 100 degrees at 9am when my group started racing. They cut the laps down by one because of the extereme heat. If you have a chance, Mike does a great job putting on races, a real grass roots feel. They are a lot of fun.
