New question here. Santa Barbara riding tips

I'll be camping in the Paradise Road/San Marcos Pass area from Saturday to Thursday and was wondering about local rides.

Some good tips on this site http://www.mtbwest.com/lospadres-07.html but wonder if any more suggestions like:
    1. Any good trail maps for the area?
    2. How amenable to single speed riding are the trails?
    3. Any other suggestions for loops in the 20-30 mile range?

    Thanks

    Alex

Check at the Ranger Station for maps

LIttle Pine and Gibraltar Mine are my favorites. L.P. is the longer. SS? I'd say OK if you are looking for loops of 20-30 miles. For data on L.P. go to this page http://www.nrmbc.org/Photos/NRMBPhotoHome.htm and look for Little Pine. There are photos and maps.

You may hear about the Buckhorn trail http://www.socalmtb.com/socal/trails/buckhorn_.htm
Difficult, not for the type who get lost or panic.

If you will be going trough Santa Barbara or Goleta, stop by VeloPro and they will point you in the right direction. Ed is the manager at the State Street store and he is very friendly and helpful. www.velopro.com

Call me if you're looking for a riding partner

We'll be camping in one of the campgrounds off Paradise Road Saturday night (11/20) through Thursday morning (11/25). If anyone wants to ride with us and show us around call me on my cell (if it works back there) at 831-332-0297.

    Thanks again,

    Alex
