Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail Repair : May 1st

At the request of local riders and hikers, the Multiuse Trails Coalition has coordinated a trail repair project with Ranger Rick Thompson for Saturday morning at 8:00am (before it gets too warm). We’ll be improving drainage and then armoring the “ramp” that leads down to the infamous, concrete “scum crossing” on the North Trail, just west of Canyonside Rec Center.

Since the big May 15th Trail Maintenance “EVENT”, sponsored by the MTC, the SDMBA, Caballeros del Sol and the Ramona Trails Association will focus on Cobblestone Trail and the new “equestrian bypasses”, we’re going to try to get this smaller job out of the way this weekend. Are you ready to put in a few hours making trails better, and showing our Rangers how the community supports the trails we ride on? Please do! When we’re done, this problem-area should be fixed for a long time.

We’re meeting in the Canyonside Rec Center parking lot, all the way west past the ball fields, at 8:00am on Saturday. The “worksite” is about 300 yards west on the trail, so if you’re late, just walk on up. Bring gloves and some shoes/boots you can get wet (or ride in with your bike, but still pack some work gloves) because the “scum crossing” has running water (and shade, by the way). Be sure to “sign-in” with the Ranger, so he can report on the number of volunteers and “hours” we all put in. We’ll be done by noon.

Better yet, if you can RSVP, we’d love to have a count so we can decide how many Cadillac Escalades or bottles of water to give away. Just email: MultiUseTrails-owner@yahoogroups.com
