San Diego ... Big Laguna Loop

Saw some beautiful scenery on this relatively flat trail. Met the youngest mountain biker to date ... 6 year old girl (and her 8 year old brother). Day started out sunny but ended inside of a cloud. Could hardly see the trail, much less landmarks. Trying to build some endurance in preparation for my ride next weekend with the Wherewolf.

Not the hardest but all things taken into account, probably my favorite area to ride in SoCal.

Nice pics. It's been a while since I've been up there. I miss it.

Between Chico and Aqua Dulce ravines. Look about one inch to the right of Laguna Meadow (on the map).

I use two Nikon SBs, Pocketwizard FlexTT5 and a MiniTT1.
The PW allows you to sync the flash up to 1/8000 sec

Gatos spur on the map, take it from what's shown as BLT-16 for full effect. Which reminds me, has someone been jacking around with the BLT trail markers? Seems like I saw at least 4 of them marked BLT-6 Thanksgiving weekend.

How is that Wooded Hill area? BLT-13, -14, -15 on the map.

Fairly mild, then it's a climb on the old country road. Literally a road.

I believe the Wooded Hill trail was shut down for rehab this year or last. Don't know the status.

I think you're right. I believe we routed around it and stayed close to the highway before we hit Old Country Rd.

The trail in green was still marked hiking only on one of the trail intersections.

I haven't been up there in a while, but if I had the time, I would go tomorrow. Everything should be rideable.

I was out there this morning, didn't ride Noble thought. Started at the info center and rode up Old County Rd, down Aqua Dulce, across to the north of the meadow area and back out on one of the trails to the southwest . Trail conditions were excellent all over, other than the occasional icy snow patch, but otherwise pretty much all dry but tacky. Old County Rd was pretty icy but totally ridable. Aqua Dulce on the way down was even more icy and slick but still ridable, carefully. I didn't like dulce with all the ice, and wish I tried Los Gatos. In the meadows area all the trails I rode were excellent. Still some icy snow in shady spots but pretty few and nothing bad.
I'd guess Noble is in good shape if it gets plenty of exposure, but I don't know.

Rode Los Gatos down Noble today. A lot of LG was a muddy mess, due to a lot of tree coverage. Noble was good besides the top 1/8 or so, everything else was prime.

Never been down there. It's beautiful ! How far is that from Glendale/Pasadena/Burbank area approximately ?

I'm not a parent but I hope those two little, young kids weren't out there by themselves... doesn't seem right...especially with all that goes on in today's world.

    Great pics, thanks for posting

It's about 150-175 miles from there. Just head down the 5 or the 15, then east on the 8 to the Sunrise Highway. Excellent place to spend the day!
