... and if we just ... Path Ride: Santiago Oaks recap - 05/14/2006

Orange, CA. We had a small group for today's Path ride. Temps were in the low to mid 70's. (Summer is around the corner.)

Our ride today would take us up Zips, down Goat aka Waterfall, up to the table top and power line fun area, then down Zips and out.

We got things kicked off with a fun little drop.

Here Bloodhead adds a little more air to his shock:

    "Crash" Maxwell sticks the landing:

Bloodhead goes a little nose heavy, but makes it none the less:

Lacey decides to take the more traveled route and almost looses it, but would recover just fine:

Lacey pushes while "Crash" Maxwell climbs the first real steep section of Zips:

    "Crash" Maxwell cleans it:

"Crash" Maxwell cleans the bypass section:

"Crash" Maxwell powers his was up Zips as the marine layer burns off:

Lacey nears the top of Zips:

Once at the top we regrouped and made our way down Goat aka Waterfall.

    Frank on the point:

Frank goes the round about way:

    Bloodhead:

    Bloodhead takes the direct route:

Bloodhead descends towards some very tall wild flowers:

    Spring is in the air:

"Crash" Maxwell shows Lacey how its done:

"Crash" Maxwell leads Lacey down Goat:

Time for the bottom portion of Goat...Waterfall.

    Frank:

    Bloodhead:

    "Crash" Maxwell:

    A proud father sets up:

    Here comes Lacey:

Bloodhead finishes up our run down Goat:

    Part II

Eventually we would make our way to the top. First on the agenda, the table top.

"Crash" Maxwell...I didn't know he had it in him:

    Bloodhead:

    Frank:

    "Crash" Maxwell:

    Bloodhead:

Time for a little fun under the power lines.

    Bloodhead off the drop:

    Frank:

Now legend has it that this drop can be rode in reverse. There are unconfirmed reports of Chirs (seen in the file photo below) actually riding up the drop:

After several dry runs by the guys, "Crash" Maxwell is the first man to commit:

A little rough with a clunk, but he made it:

    JP(?) makes it with ease:

Bloodhead on the very drop he earned his nickname:

    Here comes Henry:

"Crash" Maxwell makes his way down towards Zips:

    Frank launches:

    Bloodhead:

    CPATCRASH sticks the backflip:

    "Crash" Maxwell:

Lacey passes by sporting her new custom The Path, Hoss, SHARE, Warrior's Society jersey:

CPATCRASH makes his way down Zips:

    Lacey coming down Zips:

CPATCRASH takes a break waiting for everyone to cross the wash at the bottom of Zips:

    That's all folks.

Nope, I left the helmet cam behind figuring the marine layer was going to last longer than it did.

Plus with the slower pace of the group I figured I would concentrate on getting loads of pictures. Both up and down.

    Good times.

Mom gave us the ok to get out and ride since Lacey has a race in Big Bear next weekend.
And Lacey being the "sweet" little daughter she is, woke up early and made her Mom a bowl of her favorite oat meal, and I set her up with some fine Peet's Coffee.
She still gets a little nervous on the steep loose stuff, but, then again, she's 13. She had a great time today, and I think it's very cool for the guys to treat her as just another one of us.
I've got a few shots to send Winston so he can put them up.

Yep, I've had it for a while now. It's a 66 RC2X. Nice fork and an improvement over the Breakout +. (Small bump sensitivity and at higher speeds.)

For riders in the OC, I think the 66 Light model is the way to go. (So you can lock it down with ETA on the climbs.)
