OT: Did anyone see a large fireball in the sky last night?

the wife and I were driving down Melrose just off Palomar Airport road in Carlsbad last night around and saw a large fireball drop out of the sky over the ocean in the direction of Encinitas.

don't suppose anyone else saw this? It was between 8:00 and 8:30.

Check the paper: Did the Navy or Marines lose a plane? Or maybe, more hopefully, they were doing exercises of San Clemente island.

I saw a fireball out over the ocean once while walking on the beach at Torrey Pines, and it turned out to be an F-4 going down. Read about it in the paper next day. I don't remember whether the pilot got out

There's currently a large fireball in the sky. Seems to disappear every night!

They're usually a lot farther away than they look. If you manage to find a meteorite (or pieces) on the the ground, you'll hit the jackpot. Meteorites are worth far more than their weight in gold to collectors!

    Weird

Both the fireball and that the corner you mentioned is a around a mile and a half from my sister's house AND that I even checked the SoCal page today which I do around once every 3-4 weeks. Carry on.

P.s. I saw a flaming F-4 jet go down once in the upper peninsula of Michigan and the resulting fireball from all the jet fuel exploding lit up the entire horizon from over ten miles away.
