    Name that Mission Trails trail.

Does anyone know the name of the single track trail that leads out of Spring Canyon, westbound to the ridge between Spring and Oak Canyon. It's the first canyon after going northbound under the 52 that goes westbound out of Spring Canyon? After Deer Dancer, but before 3 barrels.

    Thanks,

    Dan

If you are talking about the trail that has the nice contour switch backs it is called Teote. --> T.O.T --> The Other Trail

I've heard it called Western, but I've always known it as "L1" because it's the first trail on the left (or it was before Deer Dancer). But the final switchback climb up to the ridge is Teote (as bankerboy described). Before Teote appeared about 4-5 years ago, the climb out of the canyon turned to the right and took you up to the end of the southeast-pointing finger ridge, then turned left to finish with a steep, loose fireroad climb up to the main ridge.

Oh, and technically speaking, it's NOT a "Mission Trails" trail. That area, being north of the 52 freeway, is NOT part of MTRP.

We like to call it STFU - Some Trails Further Up.

I ride there every other week and have no idea what deer dancer or teote is. The group I ride with have a couple vulgar names for that first trail on the left. Meet me on the trail and I'll tell you! Mr Toads is an ok down, a little too rocky for me. Three barrels is a sweet down and Grassy Knoll is a good down or up. I recently found the trail that connects over to Sycamore Canyon, thats a hell of a climb! But the down into Sycamore makes up for it.

See you guys on the trail!

I haven't heard a name given to the contour singletrack that runs from the south end of L-1 (not Western; not Father's Day) to the east end of Deer Dancer. I've been calling it "No. 9" because for a while there was a pair of size 9 bowling shoes trail side . . . .
