i can get down el prieto with one dab (but not always) on a full suspension. there is one switchback that goes left w/ a drop-off that for the life of me, i can not clear. i've yet to clean the whole trail because of that same switchback.
Fully rigid SS is a different story - i'm MUCH slower with some dabs on the water crossings (and that switchback)
Funny how a thread about a MP3 player found turns into a discussion about dabbing on El Prieto
Anyways, I usually ride FS and occasionally clear El P without dabbing. More often, however, I have to dab once somewhere. Lately, I've been clearing the left switchback that DoubleD dabs at (you just have to go really slow into it, change direction, and pedal through). I agree about the skidding.
Ohh! That drop with the little retaining fence and the green abyss. That is the hardest part for me too, then that stupid rock garden climb out of the stream. Damn you Scuba Steve!
Yang Shen Zen (english version),
Are you riding the naked crow?
I also have a question about a soreness next to the upper hip bone area, right side only, I think my leg is shorter on that side, what could you tell me?

that's the exact section. it pisses me off!. i wonder if it was a right turn if i could clean it... yup, that little rock garden climb out of the stream is a ***** too...
Hey Stoner,
It took me awhile to decipher your english version. Yes, I signed up for Naked Crow, but am not 100% sure I'm riding yet. We'll see what kinda shape I'm in in a month. As for your hip pain, I couldn't tell you too much without examining. It could be trochanteric bursitis (inflammation of the bursa around your hip area). In regards to leg length - most people's legs aren't exactly equal. They may be off by as much as a cm or so. If it's much more, it will be noticeable. There are several clinical ways to eyeball leg lenth discrepancy, but the best way is to get an xray to measure your leg lengths to know for sure.
The fact that someone lost it with out knowing is a good sign; they must have not been wearing it at the time. I hate when people ride El Prieto with their ears plugged. When climbing El P I always ring my bell before the blind turns but I don't know how many times I had jackasses sliding to a stop into me because the couldn't hear me coming.
Yes, the skidding has got to stop; it's getting way loose and takes the fun out of going up.
Went up and down this morning, It's about an hour ride door to door for me - a little longer if I bring my morning coffee in a thermos and have it at the top.
I still can't clean that drop off (or climb up) that you mentioned but the rest isn't really that bad, just need to stop once in a while to get the heart rate down.
Sometimes I go up El P then down to Millard, up Lower Sunset and then down the Loma Alta trail to my house, takes about the same amount of time, just depends on the mood.
I finally tried to listen to the MP3 player and it sounds like crap. I don't think the guy would want it back. As far as the thread goes, hi-jack away.
Someone lost an MP3 player on El Prieto??? Damn....well I can get down Tunnel trail in SB dabbing only once, but it would mean I have to skid!! By the way, what do herpes look like??
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
