    More from Carlsbad

I'm still knocking on the cities door. We had a good meeting this week with the City Manager and he likes the idea of adding bike areas to parks and will help us. He wants to know how many riders will use parks more if they had bike areas and how many riders will use a bike park. Please take a few minutes, visit the website they have set up for parks (below) and tell them we need a bike park.

When you say bike park, are you looking for dedicated trails and possibly a pump track? It'd be cool to have a real, properly laid out trail system here. Coming from Florida, their best trail systems were embraced by the city and the community, were well laid out and well maintained. Alafia State Park and Santos being two examples. I was a little bit surprised to see that almost all the trails around here have decided to completely bypass the litigation and legal troubles. Wheres SDMBA on all this?

We have been asking the city for a pump / jump park on the small scale. We have a couple sites where pump & jump tracks could be combined with free-ride / flow trails.

There are some spots where one could be built near existing trail systems for a great tie in system.

We are receiving some help from the SDMBA.

I attended the first meeting in the process and a parks staffer said they are getting a lot of bike requests in their survey. Lets keep up the pressure!

I attended the Carlsbad parks commission meeting last night for their master plan update progress report. The bike park effort has their attention and it was brought up by a couple commissioners. The parks department is continuing the online survey through the end of the month. It is very important to get as many bike park responses as we can. They do not have a lot of responses so every request for a bike park is very big.
