It was only 4 this time! I have to alternate every other day to keep the peace in the family. I will only end up with 9 days this year so I'm slacking. I tried to pick up another bike this time up but I guess I don't have the inside track. He wouldn't sell me a couple at this time and yet when we stopped at Toomey's for breakfast, I went up to ask one more time and he said they sold all the Elements to some guy?? They had to bring some down from the Adventure Center. Funny thing is I looked on Ebay just for giggles and there they are! The Mountain sold these for $350 a piece and they are on Ebay starting at $900. Capitalism at its' finest.

They do run Chair 2 on Fridays as said above. Also there is a local DH race series put on by one of the shops that is a ton of fun as well. No entry fees or anything and everyone wins swag and beer at the bottom!

Stuff closed on and off this week as they prep for the Kamikaze games. I imagine they'll have everything open for the weekend though.

Man I don't think I saw a single person on the trails this morning. Pretty eerie after the crowds last weekend.

Labor Day is the huge drop off in traffic for Mammoth. Most kids are back in school and people are done vacationing for the summer.

Just rode yesterday. Trails were dryyyy and loose, but a storm rolled through this morning as we were leaving. Not sure how much rain there was around town, we hit some good rain down the 395.

    Rode today. Dry, loose, dusty.

My front wheel went way deep into the sand at the bottom of Shotgun...almost got tossed off.

I rode Juniper last week, came around what looked like a smooth corner, turned out to be 6" of dust into a huge rock. Thankfully I wasn't going terribly fast, landed right on my head, in more dust.

I'm was planning on riding there this Sunday-Tuesday and then going up to Tahoe for the rest of the week, but it's sounding like the trails are pretty beat. Should I skip Mammoth?

I'll be there next Friday for the Games. Doing some riding Saturday to get our last licks in before the park shut's down. Any official word as to that date? I get the Facebook notifications on the trails but nothing about when it will close.

9/21 is when the park officially closes.
No word yet on whether or not Chair 2 will run on weekends for a few more weeks after that. They've extended chair 2 past the official close for a few seasons now.
    Trails are beat.
    Bomb holes everywhere.
Contracting Pumice Lung is a definite possibility.
    NO CROWDS though.
Lap after lap all to yourself since Labor Day.
    Wind is down. Blue skies.
    Mammoth is awesome right now.

Did Off the Top today. It was really sandy up there. Could have used a fat bike. Seven Bridges and Richocet were short...but fun.

    Weather is great.

Yeah, yeah...Rub it in. Blazing hot down here in the OC and a fire burning in Silverado Canyon. Looking out my back door at it. You can buy me a beer when I get up there, lol!
