    Kernville on Sunday

Couple of us from Tehachapi are planning a trip on Sunday to run Portuguese pass and possibly just outstanding, all are welcome. We will be leaving Tehachapi around 8 which would get us up there around 9 or 9:30 im guessing.

Yeah. Should be a decent day a little cold in the morning.

I'm curious, how was it? Snow on Port Pass or no?

I know a group rode JO on Friday and they said there was patches of snow and that it was pretty cold in the morning.

It was a beautiful day, high 50's.
There was patches of snow and ice but not on the trail. It was actually a mix of dry and muddy but still nice.

Does anyone know if MRA will be running shuttles this weekend? I've tried calling for 2 days with no luck. Is JO shuttle only or can it be pedaled without too much punishment =)

Also if conditions permit and anyone is up to self-shuttle, I can hold 3 maybe 4 bikes.

    Thanks all.

I might be interested in riding JO Saturday as a shuttle or loop.

I don't know if MRA is still shuttling or is done for the season.

There is a JO 'Loop' that can be ridden. We start at the fire station at 155 & Rancheria Rd. and ride the Unal Trail, then down JO and climb back up on State Rd. The second half of the ride is a pretty serious climb. The whole ride according to Strava is about 19 miles and 3350' of climbing. It's a workout but it's a great ride...

Heard back from MRA, shuttles are dependent on what happens with this storm.

Either way, I'll be heading thru on Saturday from SF en route to AZ. Want to scope out the bike park also.

westeast, will send you a PM with info.

It has been raining a bit today. Another wave of rain just moved in and the temps have dropped. I think the top of JO is getting snow now. I will report back tomorrow when I see where the snow level is.

It rained some last night and is still spiting this morning. The snow level looks to be about 7000'. JO might be doable tomorrow if you don't mind a little snow and mud at the top. All the lower stuff should be good.

Anyone interested in Just Outstanding and other linking trails this Tuesday or Wednesday. There will be a little snow, but I have been told it should be ridable and weather looks good the next few days. I'm willing to shuttle or ride up.

Conditions are epic right now. We rode these on Sunday and Monday. A little mud at the very top, then brownie dirt the rest of the way. I can ride after 10:30 on Wednesday.

I should have waited. I rode today and the trails were awesome! It was my first time at JO. Super fun. I'll be up there as often as I can. I'll shoot you a PM next time I'm making plans.

You can always check Alta Sierra's web cams to get an idea of what the top of JO looks like.

The storm a week and a half ago dropped snow down to the lake level. The snow seems to be clear now up to about 4000'. Above that there is still snow on the North facing slopes. Kern Canyon, Whiskey Flat, and Opium trail are all snow free. We did Dutch Flat on Sunday and the climb is in some snow but the downhill is snow free and in great shape. JO, Cannell, and all the other higher elevation rides have snow.
