    Kern Valley Gathering ROLL CALL

Only a Few Weeks to go until our informal gathering and we need to get a count on how many people are coming.

Bionicon is hosting a barbecue for Saturday night from around 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. We'll have Brats, Burgers, Veggieburgers, a salad, buns, tomatos, etc.

Of course you can bring your own barbecue items and side dishes, and refreshing adult beverages of choice.

The Barbecue will be held at the Keyesville central campsite. Look for the Bionicon Van and a bunch of tired, happy and hungry mountain bikers!

So we can plan appropriately, let us know how many will be attending the barbecue:

To confirm you attendance please post on the thread or send an email to BBQ@BioniconUS.com or a PM through the forums and let us know:

It is just my opinion but the SART is weak compared to what you will ride up here. You should change your plans. Paul I am in for Saturday and Sunday. I am working on Friday too but not for sure yet. There will be a few others with me on Sunday. My wife has some family in town so I will not be at the BBQ, but I can't complain since she is letting me ride all weekend.

I'd like to, but there are other reasons I need to hang around the Inland Empire that weekend.

Yep before Tomac was Joe Murrey. Now them were the days! Did you every do the Plumeline Sierra 7500? I did it several times. Wish it was still an event.

Yep, and before them was VVA. Did Plumline once. Have done White Mountain Peak in a Day, several times. My all time favorite was "Piru-Cuyama Overland". You know you've been around too long when hardtails start to be popular again. It's that whole 29er thing. But man do those big wheels roll fast!

Those were good ole days, but given his penchant for collecting roadkill, I am thankful VVA isn't hosting this weekend's BBQ....

We'll have plenty of time to talk about the good ol' days around the campfire!

For now OTB has 10 riders confirmed, 3 vegetarians, and two or three just coming up for Saturday's ride (if they get out of jury duty early enough on Friday).

    Looking forward to it!

    Places and times

It sounds like a number of you are wise and have signed up to take the MRA shuttle. This will make your life a lot easier after the ride when you don't have to go back up for a vehicle.

Based on the 8am shuttle service, it sounds like we should all plan on meeting up at the Cannell trail head around 9:30am. From there, the riders can split up into faster and slower groups. These meeting times make sense from what I have read:

7am at the Keyesville campground for those who wish to organize shuttles.

8am at MRA campground for those smart enough to just pay for a ride.

    9:30am ready to ride.

If you are staying in Kernville or in some plush hotel, make plans to find one of the groups. I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend.
It is time to be proactive and create the life you want to live!

    One less

Sorry, I was SO looking forward to this weekend, but my dad was in the hospital this week. I won't be going 'cause he's still out of it. My two buddies are still going. I'm so envious. I guess I'll bring the beers and carne asada for the next one.

    Please, take lots of photos.

    Early Report...

I had to bail early, but had a blast while there. The weather was perfect and the trails were in great shape.

It was great meeting everyone on Friday. I had a blast, even though my stupid brake lever broke. I ended up going to two different shops in town and neither of them had a lever that would have worked, so I had to order it. Frickin bummed out, I wanted to come out again on Saturday.
Looking forward to riding with you guys again soon.

Thanks Paul and Mic for organizing! Oh and Wendy the brownies in the dutch oven were the best! The Golden Willow was sweet on the Cannel Trail.

Thanks Jeff for leading the OTB crew on the ride on Friday!

A spring Kern trip sounds great! We could ride two days and have one day for a white water trip on the Kern! Anyone know any rafting guides
