We're starting a ballot measure to outlaw rain except at night or on weekdays!

I'm so missing getting on the dirt! I'm getting really good on my road bike, but riding that in the rain gets old pretty rapidly too. At least its sunny this morning and I can get a couple hours on the road in.

    LOL. Tension is building...

I love the rain. Just hate it on Saturdays (and the day before).
    If not biking, then what?

Ya, who's in charge of the rain schedule anyway? We need 24 hours of rain every 3.5 weeks year round with a special events exception.

That's the ticket! I should run for governator and get this state under control.

    Guys-
For what its worth, my buddies and I have ridden Cowles Mtn, the mesa rd entrance, the last few weekends, except this one, and it drained great. We are usually VERY cautious about trail damage due to mud and such but there was just none to speak of on the whole trail, so if you are that laid up with cabin fever, head on over there. Also, take a few of the bells back to the top mailbox if you get a chance, I assume that is what SDMBA wants people to do (great idea by the way).

Rain provides tacky trails, especially normally sandy ones.

Rain means our green season will last longer before brown season comes again.
("California does too have seasons....... brown season and green season!")

And rigid SS bikes are meant for wet rides.

Really rocky trails and fire roads can still be ridden, even with water running down them.

Hasn't rain since Saturday here in Riverside/San Berdoo area... was just at Marshall Canyon today. Nice and tacky, some parts were extremely mad and would require weeks before drying.

Says its suppose to rain Sat/Sun - Boo.

First couple pics are in Montana de Oro State Park, East Boundary and Barranca.
Last ones are Froom Trail in Irish Hills, City of San Luis Obispo Natural Reserve.

    map links

Many of our local trails are too muddy in the rain, these hold up well. SLO riders can see Trail Conditions with the links in my sig.

    Why on weekends?

Seems like it tends to rain most on weekends. An engineer buddy of mine was trying to convince me that there is a scientific study that correlates traffic flow with rain...something about when the traffic finally slows, it rains...??

I don't feel like googling it, but any hear about this??

You just gotta know what trails to ride during and after a rain. Some can handle the flow very well. I rode these past two weekends without damaging any trails. (this means los pen is NOT the place to be)

    Slippery rock requires concentration.

outta my way, I'm totally bangin trout heads! ehhh rydbyk? :-)

and no, I don't know of any study correlating traffic flow with rain pour

And, lo, I will commute over black mountain tomorrow, and enjoy the dry-ish conditions. Then I shall enjoy Kids' Workshop at Home Depot with my son, where they are building a rain gauge this week. Not only can I whine and moan about the weather, but I'll have statistics to back me up!

As for why we have so much rain: Enough choruses of "Rain rain go away, come again another day" is bound to bite us at some point. It's like deficit spending.
