Idyllwild area trails, what to ride?

I'm gonna be in Idyllwild the week of Thanksgiving and I'm looking at taking a day or so to do some riding. I grew up near Idyllwild but didn't really MTB until I moved to AZ, so I know the area well but not a thing about biking the trails. Any suggestions, Hurkey Creek, Idyllwild, Thomas Mtn, Santa Rosa?? I suppose I could read the trail reviews but from what I hear lots of trails are being closed down so I don't know where to start.

Going up . . . Thomas mountain is a good uphill grind with lots of views. Going down . . . Descending the Ramona trail will test your technical ability. i have heard that the Alvin meadows area is awesome, but I have not had a chance to ride it.

Webster is sweet little downhill singletract, except for the boulder hopping and bush wacking at the bottom of the canyon next to creek, and good luck on fining your way out.
