Anyone know if there's snow on the ground at Hurkey Creek, and how much? Trying to decide between there and Noble Canyon this Saturday. Last I heard, Noble's got a little snow at the top and creeks pretty swollen. I'd prefer Hurkey if conditions are reasonable.
Any news on the trail conditions after the most recent rains? Driving from San Diego next week and want to make the trails are in decent shape. I know there's been a lot of rain up there. Thanks for the info.
Yep the trails will be good enough by then. Though I think it is going to rain/snow over the weekend.
I would not recommend taking Ramona right now, ther is snow at the top and the ride up will be slow. By the weekend I bet the trail leaving from the campground will be mostly free of snow, but the trail from little thomas side will defiantly have snow patches!
If it was up to me i would ride Palm canyon. That trail is kicking right now
I last rode Hurkey Creek on April 2nd. Lots of water crossings. The climb next to the highway has water everywhere. I would climb straight up from the campground to the upper trails. They have a little less water. Use a wet chain lube!
we were up there saturday. we didn't ride (just checking out the campground in town), there was a couple of inches of snow above 5000'. things should dry out pretty quickly this week.
