    The Grand Traverse

The Grand Traverse on June 9th

I signed up for the ride yesterday and I am pretty excited to attempt my first endurance race. My only concern is the heat as it is usually above 100 degrees in the Santa Ana’s during the summer. For those of you that have done this race in the past, how was it? How is the race comparing to County Coup and or Vision Quest?

Since this is the first year they're having the Traverse, nobody can give you input on how it was in the past. I did the CC but doubt I'll do this one too.

    Good luck!

That pretty much says it! There is one long steep one that's usually loose... but, what the hell, we don't do this for fun

Actually Ethan, it's been proven that we MTBers are really masochists in disguise...hence, the long painful rides (he he he)

Are you and/or your dad going to do this one?

    I'm planning on riding it.

The weather was a non factor as the climate was actually better than I would have expected. I lost some pretty nice sunglasses on the main divide and I battled cramps off and on, but I talked to some really cool people along the way which made up for all of it. I finished under 7hrs and won a jersey during the raffle so all in all it was a great day. How did everyone else do?
