Going to Big Bear late june. Need Trail recomendations

I am going to Big Bear with some friends at the end of june. We are going to either stay at the Serrano campground on the north side of the lake or Pineknot at the base of Snow Summit.

If we camp on the north side fo the lake are there good trails near by?

Will camping at Pineknot provide plenty of riding? Also, anybody know where showers would be near the Pineknot campground. I don''t care but some of my friends do.

ALso some general trail recomendation would be great.

I just got back from big bear and stayed at both pineknot (20$ per night) and serrano (26$ per night). Ive stayed at pineknot 3 times and each time got a sketchy vibe. Its worth the extra 6 bucks a night to stay at serrano. There are showers at serrano-but not at pineknot. Both sides of the lake have fireroads for silly long XC rides-Id recommend Franko's map....they are pretty accurante-I think you can pick it up at REI, the Path and local bike shops.

Thanks for the info. I'll be up there in late June too, with the bike.

I thought about theat, but I believe it is a private campground or something. Also, want to stay away form a party crowd.

Bear Valley Bikes is a cool shop

http://www.bvbikes.com/ Right next to the only microbrewery in town, closes early for a bar though, but that's Big Bear. Knowledgable shop, rootsy vibe.

Don't leave your bike(s) unattended for 1 minute. BB is a bike thief magnet.

I'm still POed my Kona was stolen.

So many tweakers come up for the summer for "bike hunting".

BB has really gone downhill...no pun intended.

go roulette style. ride all day, go to a bar. if you dont meet a girl to spend the night with you sleep in the car. adds incentive.
