Is Dirttreaders.com San Diego's Mountain Bashers?

Is it me or that forum is all about bashing people. I just moved from up north and started checking out the forums to find and get connected with other mountain bikers. I've being a "lurker" as you are called on the forum if you don't write much on it, and I've noticed at least on my view that several of the main members are just waiting on someone to make a mistake or write something they don't like and the bashing starts. I am not saying everybody on the site is bad but it does seems that is the main theme of the forum. What do you think?

I've been on a few larger group rides posted there and I have to say they were all cool to me. Great group of people.

    Examples?

    Somebody didn't get their nappy....

Never had a problem. It's local and most people know each other.

I have been posting there for some time, know quite a few of the folks and have never had a problem. It is interesting that this is the second time an anonymous user has posted their first post here and bashed DT. Be brave and give your DT name rather than hiding.

Prior example --> The other site(south)

I've been on DT for only about 6 months, been on two DT group rides and have only had good experiences. When the "main" members bash somebody it's usually because that somebody is posting something questionable, or posting about doing something questionable or riding in an area that is questionable.

That being said, it just boils down to common sense.
    1. Don't ride sensitive trails in the rain, after the rain, or until the trail dries.
    2. Don't poach and post about it on a public forum.
    3. Use the search function.
    4. Use proper grammar and english so people understand you.
    5. Don't be a ******bag.

I'm a noob on both sites but I think the people on DT are great and very supportive. Yes, they will play ya a bit at times but it's all in good fun. Nothing to get PO'ed about.
Any forum can get testy if you jump in with both barrels blazin and I don't know if you did or not. Just saying....

    Welcome to this forum too!

Ok, my real answer to this thread:

Dirt Treaders are a close knit community of riders that are very protective of that community. There are sort of unofficial rules that go along with that, such as posting pictures in your ride reports or introducing yourself and participating within the community before trying to sell your wares. So if you break those "rules" then you may get your balls busted. As a whole, I think we want our community to grow and thrive and welcome new members, but keep that "small town feel". I also think everyone feels they know each other well enough that light hearted fun and shittalking may look like bashing to outsiders, when it's really not. In the end though, if you don't like what you see, don't read it!!

One rule that should NEVER be broken though... New guy brings beer to their first DT ride.

There have been a few lovers quarrels, but most of the bashing is something most people refer to as having fun talking smack with your bros and your hoes! If you prefer a more orderly dictatorship you could always hit up the other socal forum where they enjoy their krumpets and tea. You cant even talk about DT over there!

Lets carry this conversation over to DT and not bother the good folk of MTBR. Come on down and have an intelligent conversation and maybe join a ride with the bad people and confirm your suspicions.

Nice people , allway's in for a good laugh and i hope to get overthere again to ride with some of them.

"Can we get a cleanup in the SoCal MTBR forum...we got a rider with piss soaked lycra bibs and he is starting to puddle up."

SSRules, other than lurk in that forum, what has been your contribution to the group? Planned any group rides? Joined in on any rides? Given any reports on a recent ride you enjoyed? Helped anyone out with much needed parts? What about a cool piece of gear that is new to the scene...maybe you threw it up on the forum for others to see?

It's a fact of life...EVERYONE is gonna hate on the whiner. So instead of committing social hobby suicide, you just go with the flow and get to know the group. From this vantage point, I see a rider who is missing out on fun rides, great beer, and most of all...incredible people. Go ahead...cheat yourself. More beer for me.
