    Deerfield/MTRP redux

There's an effort to begin reviving talks of revamping the Deerfield area into a complete bike park... this time around at least one city planner brought forth the idea that the area could meet additional park acreage (somehow this differs from open space), apparently there were "multiple concerns" from the CAC about this.

Nevertheless, round 3... or 4... or 5... or 6 of the Deerfield effort is back on the table.

Along with this, I know of a nice place a pump track would fit. Right next to the new building on the other side of MTRP... it used to be a horse corral but this has been disassembled since roughly May. Not sure what purpose this serves in it's current state but I'm daily certain that about 30 yards of dirt, a hose and a capable bobcat operator could turn this into a great little pump track, it's at least 2x as large as the footprint of the Los Olivos Dirt Club pump track.

Signed it! It's funny because I thought the same idea when I rode by it.

Is there still a restriction on bringing in soil to Deerfield?

I've never seen or heard what I would consider to be an honest answer on that...

Then again, the revolving door of senior rangers in the park doesn't allow for much for much confidence, in my opinion.

I went to the vote last night to show support and the CAC voted in favor of it! I guess it's on to the city council next. Baby steps...

    Deerfield/MTRP redux

Probably to the MTRP "task force" and then to city council. So even more steps.

    Sort of but not really.
The vote was in favor of approving the funding which is hinged on the Grantville Redevelopment funds. If G-ville does not get the redevelopment approved, there are not funds, vote is moot.

This could work in several ways.
    A. Grantville redevelopment approved, funds come in, everything is great.

    B. Grantville redevelopment not approved, no funds, back to the basement, CAC "did all they could".

    C. there's several other ways.

But, the main point to stress is the vote was not on *existing* funds. It was on pending/potential funds. No grantville redevelopment, no funds and the Deerfield revamp falls into the mess of priorities for the master plan update.

Riders, families, community members need to continue to press on the CAC to stress the importance and value of a bike park in their community.
