A Day At Big Bear
Well today was the long anticipated day. The trip up to Big Bear. Great dh spot. Woke up really early at 6:30 in the morning and got the bikes ready to load in the truck.
mmmmm so so clean....
We headed up to Brad's house and met with Oliver and his Chumba Wumba F4. Sweet rig. Loaded all the bikes onto the navigator and headed up the hill. A one hour drive to get to the Snow Summit. Everyone was itching to ride.
When we arrived we unloaded the bikes (Rental Kona Stinky, GT I-drive, Jamis XLT 1.0, and the Chumba Wumba F4 prototype)
Filling out permission slips and legal junk.
Then we're off to the ski lifts. Who does the uphills anyways...... We picked a good day to go. Friday it was absoutley empty place. There were people here but not as crowded on the weekends. So we practically had the whole park to ourselves.
First run was the main downhill trail. Since it was my first time on a downhill bike the stinky it felt like nothing. The steep descents we easy. Nothing to it. I just chilled back on the bike and let the suspension take the hits. Talk about a HUGE difference from the xc NRS. The trails were, however, dusty and loose at some spots. Steering in the sand is very difficult to do. Most of the time I found myself counter-steering the bike since it had a mind of its own going down. Sorry didnt have time to take pictures of the trail. Having way too much fun!!
Of course the group pic
Around noon we decided to take a rest and get some lunch at the top of the mountain. Also to give our steeds the rest they needed....
Oliver's Chumba Wumba (actually testing it out)
"Nice bike man!!!!!"
Well our day was pretty much over since the park closes at 4 on weekdays.
Gee someone is sure excited....... (damn brad)
And of course cant forget the cool a$$ mascot!!!!
