    Cuyamaca trail conditions?

With perfect weather approaching this weekend, I am considering the Grand Loop in Cuyamaca. I was wondering if anyone who has ridden up there lately can advise on the trail status--especially all the downed trees across the trail.

    Thanks in advance.

I rode it Saturday and it was a great ride, if a bit chilly. There were still a few downed trees but only on the Fern Flat fire road (the long downhill if you're doing the grand loop counter-clockwise). Otherwise trail conditions were great. You could see that they've been doing a lot of work up there to clean out the deadwood. There were several water crossings on the Upper Green Valley fire road that I didn't know existed.

    Downed Trees on Middle Peak

I was up there on Good Friday. Most of the trail was in great shape. The downhill portion of Middle Peak was full of downed trees. A great upper body workout when you're riding a 40 lb. VP-Free.

There was surpisingly little mud from Middle Peak to the Cuyamaca Peak access road, and even a small patch of snow on the fire road back down.
