    close to Solana Beach?

    Visiting from MA.

Thinking about calaveras lake tomorrow (Tuesday). If anyone has a better suggestion for something closer to Solana Beach (other than LPQ) I'd listen. Otherwise, parking and trail finding help for calaveras would be appreciated. Just looking for singletrack and quite unfamiliar with the north county....

La Costa is good riding. Be ready for some climbing right off the bat.

La Costa or Elfin Forest. I don't recommend Calaveras unless you have a guide. There are a ton of trail braids out there and you can miss the good stuff pretty easily. If you want some routes look up my Strava profile.

Thanks guys. I followed mountain bike Bill's route and got some advice from 3 regulars who were doing a lunchbreak ride. Made a loop down to copper creek and back up, hit vista del mar, whiptail, some otherrandom stuff, and walked too much of nascar. Is that name short for "Nasty Scar"? Also climbed water tank road since my ride was late. Later I hooked up with a SDMBA meetup for a night ride in tri canyons. A very good day of riding trails!
