Cigar Puffing Biker Burns 67 Acres along Sullivan Ridge

    This could've been today's headline!

As I'm climbing up Sullivan fireroad, passing miles of tinder dry brush, I smelled a cigar... just like the one I smelled at the Nike overlook a few days earlier. Up ahead, I see a another mountain biker -- I knew it had to be the same guy. I'm shocked as I see him toss it on to the fireroad!

I stopped at the blunt as he turns around...

aosty: Are you smoking a cigar?
    cigarboy: Yes.
aosty: Did you just toss this on the ground? You realize there is serious danger of fire around here.
cigarboy: Yes, that's why I turned around to put it out.
impy: Are you done with this? *pointing at still burning cigar on ground*
cigaryboy: Yes, I have water to put it out.
    impy: *squirts water*
aosty: Did you put out the lit ashes you sprinkled along your ride?
cigarboy: *no answer* *stomps on remains*
aosty: *repeats* Did you put out the lit ashes you sprinkled along your ride?
aosty: Are you going to leave that here? *points at label*
    cigarboy: I usually do.
    aosty: *stare*
    cigarboy: *stare*
aosty: *stare* Well, not today... I think you should pick it up.
    cigarboy: *picks up pieces*
aosty: *lectures on danger of burning embers/ashes and littering*
    cigarboy: *reluctantly* You're right.

I have no doubt he's going to continue puffing on the trail ..... if you see this guy, please do your part to educate him!

Cigarboy is a big swarthy guy on a silver Giant Trance.

    holy fock, people are stupid

I see it on the road all the time. I can't believe it when I see people fling lit butts out the windows of their cars on the freeway, especially in hot dry California summers. Where do those dumbasses think that cig butt goes?

He's been puffing at Nike also. There's nothing like topping out on a climb and into a cloud of cigar smoke.

What a tool. I would have never guessed a biker would be that stupid. You did good by "bringing the matter" to his attention. What an idiot......

I kept waiting for the "here's how we handle things in Brooklyn" part.

I've seen/smelled him at Nike too. Way gross. Next time: kick in the balls.

Why the hell would you mix up a fire road death grind with smoking a cigar?? Don't those two not get along?

I think I ran into this guy (?) a couple weeks ago at the bench above the hub, sitting there smoking his stogie. I made some remark about health, he told me he didn't inhale. Was he a black dude?

    good that you educated him.

Aosty is an extremely nice guy. The tact and presentation of this indescretion is sure to reach home. Good job Aosty.

If anyone sees this again , please do not hesitate to inform the Police and take pictures. ( Camera working A? ). There is a crime being commited somewhere, somehow. Almost possitive there is a no smoking sign at the trailhead.

The Sleestack? Nice? hmmmmmm....did somebody poach Aosty's screen name?

With all that hissing about colored stones, the guy was probably scared straight....
