Castiac XC Loop ruined for a while

Im not sure how many San Clarita-ians here are present... Castiac Pro loop is our "home-track", I rode it yesterday for the first time in a few weeks. The county fire bulldozers plowed pretty much all of the single track, 80% of it is gone.

Not sure why they do this, A fire break? The XC race is comming up in the fall. Anyway, it just sucks and was curious if any locals discovered this.

I heard that last week. They did that a while back too. Makes no sense the way they do it either.
Try Tapia, i hear its in good shape, maybe a little short tho.

BTW, cool site! Lemme know when the shirts are done, I want one!

If you park at the Castaic Sports Complex , ride south and then cross the creek, there's two canyons there, ones Charlie and the other is Tapia. manitou/answer does nite rides there, and another group of locals does weds. nite rides there. Sunday mornings too.

search this site, i think someone put up a map...

My 'home track' too. I can actually see parts of it from my backyard.

Which parts of the trail did they 'doze?

They have been doing most of it for several years and some of it grows back to a wide ST.

Just so they didn't plow the DH run, that would be a shame.

They plowed the Lake Drop and the Canyon DH to Green Box then accross the rest of the ST DH. The lake Drop you can find good hard pack for the climb. The Canyon DH is alright. The climb to Green Box was a ridable but soft. The ST from there out was scetchy with the dozer crossing the ST, folowing it sometimes and leaving a surprising drop.
That all said...it should be getting better with that last bit of rain and some traffic, it'll be back in shape in no time.
