... and if we just ... Cannell Plunge runnable?

Hey all - am heading up to Kernville to do the Cannell Plunge this weekend. Was wondering if there are any trail closures or if the trail is runnable this weekend?

    Thanks!

It was 100% open when I last rode it in June. There was a few downed trees in the burned area around Cannell Meadow but otherwise the trail was clear.
Call Mountain & River Adventures in Kernville for the most recent info 800-861-6553 .

I just got back from Kernville 2 days ago. Trails are very dry and loose, but still very rideable. If you're shuttling with MRA you better give them a call to be sure they have enough riders signed up to run the shuttle bus, but if you're there on the weekend it shouldn't be a problem. Also, you might want to check out the bike park just outside of town, and also Just Outstanding, which is my favorite trail in Kernville.

I rode JO two weeks ago and it was powdery. Wagy Ridge trail was really loose too and full of rattlesnakes. My brother called from the brewery yesterday afternoon after being chased out of the campgrounds by wind and rain so check the weather.

Cool - thanks for the update here

Do you know of the mountain bike shops I could rent a bike from? Mountain River Adventures charges $80/day for a mountain bike rental. That's $160 for two days :/. Are there any others I can consider?

Thanks again for the input guys

THanks a lot for those, looks like we need to be wary of the weather but still goin for it

Do you guys know of the best (cheapest, preferably) places to rent a mountain bike in Kernville for two days?

Eek - $80 per day that would be $160 for the weekend. Any cheaper options?

I was up riding at Quaking Aspen. MRA is the only bike rental place in Kernville. You will probably get a better bike elsewhere for less money.

It all depends on when we get our first big snow storm. Usually that happens some time in mid to late November. In 2012 we rode Cannell from the top in January.

Damn jfsh I love that video. Ridden it twice, doin it again in a couple weeks. Very well done video. I want to ride it late this season too. Perhaps October. I suspect it's really nice late October. Not too warm.

Thanks. Yes, October is a great time to ride Cannell. You would not believe how good that trail is after some rain.

Cool beans! Thanks for the thread and info. I'll be over there in mid-October with a small group from here on the Central Coast. It'll be my first time over there for MTB'ing. Same with several in our small group Birthday Party Posse.
