I have a quick work trip in LA this week. Will have most of Wednesday free. (Flying in Wed morning.) Work is out near Ontario Thur/ Fri with possibly the late afternoons free. Saturday free. Fly out Sunday morning. Will/ can have a car.
Where could I rent a bike, ride trails, still get my work done, ride some more trails enjoy some brews??
Haven't ridden anything in the area before. (San Juan Trail would be closest) Would drive say up to 2hrs to ride. Looking for trail riding not DH runs or round around in circles. I like tech. I Like climbing.
San Juan trail isn't the closet to Ontario but if you're going there The Path has a shop relatively close. You can Google "The Path bike shop" for more info. They have a good choice of different bikes to rent.
I don't know where you can get a bike out that way, but Monroe Truck Trail in Glendora is an awesome trail. LOOOOOONG climb to the top thats fast and fun on the way back down. Not far from Ontario.
Marshall Canyon -> Potato Mountain loop is a good trail ride with a mix of single track, fire road, creek crossing and some fast decents. It's only 1/2 hr drive from Ontario or 10min drive from Incycle in San Dimas (if you decide to rent a bike there). Too bad I will have to drive up to Nor Cal on Sat morning; otherwise I am more than happier to show you around.
BTW, any trails near Hayward area? Perhaps I should ask in the Nor Cal forum huh!
I would recommend riding the Big Bear area on Saturday (high altitude is cooler and perfect for riding in the SoCal summer heat). As for Wednesday, it would be difficult to fly in, rent a bike, and then make it to a longer ride in the area. Something relatively local, and later in the afternoon is probably a better bet.
If you're determined to ride midday Wednesday, I would head for the coast down toward Laguna Beach.
If you specify your size, you might find that someone (possibly me even) has a bike to loan if you're riding with them.
