Hey Knuckleheads:

What's the plan for the BWFR (Billy Woodward Farewell Ride)? Where/When/How?

I think he's outta here in 3 weeks.

Personally, I am quite relieved he is leaving.

Or, perhaps we should call it the BWGTFOOH (Billy Woodward GET THE FOCK OUT OF HERE), ride?

Unfortuantely, I don't know if I'll make the Sunday ride. The calfing season is rapidly approaching and it wouldn't be wise for me to be away from home for 8 plus hours knowing that the wife may pop literally at any moment!

any possibility of getting in a local run before you go though?

    Billy... we hardly knew ye

    Billy-

Not trying to ambush your plans, but...

I will buy you lunch (whoo!) if you do your farewell ride (same time, same date) at San Juan instead... Carla and I are long overdue for that ride.

I can understand the lure of Noble, though, and commend your choice.

    JMH

Carla and I are going down there to ride and we would like to

    So Long SoCal!

It might be easier and with more notice to wait until next weekend for the so long ride. I am leaving town Monday morning, Jan 16th, so I need Sunday to pack. That leaves us with Saturday for an epic. My vote is still No-bell Canyon for Saturday Jan 14th. I will probably squeeze in a final ride Sunday morning before I begin the packing frenzy.

With all that said, if you can make the epic ride Saturday, meet at the No-bell Canyon lower trailhead at 8am for an Indian Creek/BLT/No-bell ride.

Sunday will be a local ride at Penasquitos Canyon (San Diego) from the Ball Park entrance, also at 8am.

Oh yeah, the SSSS was a lot of fun last spring. Shame I won't be in town for it. Think of me when you SSSS the BLT!

    Weather looking bad.

At the moment, the weather is looking damn crappy for No-bell on Saturday or Penasquitos on Sunday. If it is raining I won’t be there. L

Might as well pack up and leave now…

to the olde MTBing mantra-like axiom "Thru Rain, Hail, Sleet, or Snow?"

It only gives it a 60% chance of rain on Sat: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/...ekday=Saturday

And, only a 20% chance of snow on Sun: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/...weekday=Sunday

    Damn spelunkerers!

Neither rain, sleet, hail, snow nor the crack of Dawn will keep us from the ride.

You big Pusssy! Now, I get why you're really going to Florida. Widdle Biwwy doesn't like the cold. Don't make us come look for you!

Weather.com is showing a 30% chance of afternoon showers. If we get an early enough start, we should be good.

I don't mind the cold. I don't mind the wet too much other than damaging the trail. Together though, cold and wet sucks ass!..at least with the current clothing choices I have available in my closet. The forcast is looking better today than it was last night. We are on!

    Great Ride

Good people, good weather, good times had by all the 13 people who showed up for the brisk mountain air at the No-bell Canyon trailhead Saturday morning. The start was cold but we warmed up quickly once everyone finally showed and we started up the trail. We rode extra credit, hit the pavement for the climb up the Indian Creek. After getting our butts whooped getting up IC, we headed down "Pin Ball" otherwise known as Champaign Pass, though I have never seen Champaign there to pass on. We then hooked up with upper No-bell and headed to the parking/staging area otherwise known as the wall. We ate, BS'ed, replemished our H2O supplies then headed down No-bell. It was a fairly uneventful ride other than watching Mondo wipe out during his victory dance after having cleaned two big jumps...hehe. We all got to check out Aquaholics new Jones SS...though it looks like a pretzel made of titanium at first glance, it is still a beautiful bike and a work of art...fully rigid, the Aqua-man rode it like his five-pack doing big jumps and hauling butt down hill. Thanks to all who showed...though the weather was a concern on weather.com, it was clear sunny skies until about 30 min before the ride ended when the front moved in. We missed the rain by about 20 min when we finally got packed up and got out of there. Obviously, due to rain, tomorrow's Penasquitos ride is cancelled. When I come to in the morning, I am going to pack the rest of my stuff into my truck and head on out of here. See you guys trailside another day!

    Images from the BWFR

I think we started out with 16 riders. We picked up some stragglers along the way and some just couldn't stand being around Billy any longer and bailed.
