    Big Bear Camping?

We are headed up to Big Bear this weekend.
All reservable campsites are reserved. Anyone have beta on free camping that is accessible to a small car?

There's free camping near Running Springs, but it could all be taken at this point. I want to say there's maybe 6 spots? On the way to Keller Peak/Exploration Trail. Super rad campsites, actually. We have a Golf and parked just off the road, so carried our stuff a little ways. Scenic, quiet, spacious. No facilities (water, trash, etc.).

    Apparently, 9.

At the East side of the Jenks Lake road there used to be primitive parking. This area is South of BIg Bear. Bill

Holcomb Valley CG is easily reached by car (but it is a dirt road for about 4 miles) is relatively close to Big Bear Lake and is usually very empty, even on holiday weekends. It is reached by heading north on Van Dusen from the north side of the lake about 2 miles east of the Stanfield cutoff.

Jenks lake Road East, right off the 38. East Flat, on the east side of JLR. Still need a permit ($5, i think)
