    Big Bear bike park anyone?

Has anyone been to Big Bear recently? I've never been and was wondering if my bike would be able to handle it. I have a 29er hardtail. thanks

The new trails are Miracle Mile, Cruiser, and Westridge. Out of the 3 Westridge is probably your best bet, the others are a little bumpy and loose and probably won't be as fun on a hardtail. They are all rideable if you have the skill just make room for the DH riders because they will be a lot faster. Really though you would have more fun on your bike by riding 2N10 over to the more established XC single track trails line Pineknot (1E01), there is also new section of XC trail called Skyline up there too. Fun riding in Bear and lots of trail options beyond the new DH stuff. Renting full suspension and DH bikes is also an option.

Interesting, thanks for that. I didn't know renting was an option, might do that depending on how much they charge.

probably a lot of different rates depending on where you rent from, but the bikes at the lifts are $11 per hour. likely to be a tad cheaper if renting all day though...

For a downhill bike and safety gear it's ~$100 for the day. Shop around, there are Trek rentals at the mountain but I saw others on Intense and Rocky Mountain bikes.

Last time I was up there one of my sons high school friends was on a BMX bike! If you have meaty tires the HT might not be that slow, just don't ride the 'sheep line' that all the SLOW downhillers that are dragging their brakes down the hill use as that is where the braking bumps are. There is 4-8 feet of trail most of the way down and usually about 12-15" of braking-bump line.

    Big Bear bike park anyone?

$30 for the day when I went opening day this year. I wanna go back with a DH bike for sure. The XC trails are amazing though.
