Arrowhead/Big Bear to Lucernce Valley Trails

I have heard that several trails can be taken from Arrowhead, Green Valley, Big Bear and/or adjacent areas down to the Lucerne area (think where the 18 meets the 247).

I am planning (I hope) such a ride in the very near future. I am aware of the summer heat of Lucerne in the coming weeks. My plan is to leave the mountains in the early morning and arrive at (18/247) within several hours. I think the trip should be 30 miles +/- based upon where the departure point is.

In theory if you start at the top it should be essentially downhill most of the way. Any recommedations, cautions, advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't have my FS map with me, Forest Service, not Full Suspension, but try google earth and see what pops up. I know it can be done.

Better yet, begin at the desert early, ride up, camp, head back down early. That would be nifty.

Mtroy is right: the FS maps have several routes. Expect SAND. Deep sand in extended stretches.
