I live in the SCV but ain't a DH'er. Best bet is to call the shops and ask:

    Kirk at Performance in Valencia
Roger at Newhall Bike Co. (new shop) in Newhall

    cool.

    91384 checking in here...

There is a DH run at Castaic Lake. It's not super technical, but it is fun. You have to ride (or walk) to get up to the top. There are some nice trails in the park near the west ramp on the upper lake.

Now that I think about it, you actually could shuttle part of the way between the parking lot at the lower lake and the parking lot at the west ramp of the upper lake.

PS: Errrrrrrrrrrrrr??? New bike shop in Newhall??? Is that the one on San Fernando Road in old Newhall near the Tressierras Market?

No. Head out of Newhall on SF road headed towards the 14. As soon as you're out of Newahll proper you cross the railroad tracks. Make the first right and the shop is on the left. Roger owns it and used to wrench at Performance.

It's small and funky, has a roll-up door as the entrance and several camping chairs to sit in and shoot the chit. Have a beer and talk bikes! They also host a Wed. night mtb ride from the shop.

... and if we just ... Some possibilities..

You can do shuttle runs up from camp 9, down Viper back down to San Fernando Rd/!4 fwy or the test track off Templin hwy/5 fwy..If you use your imagination there are quit a few possibilities around here..

As Hollywood said, go ask Roger or Kirt. Both great guys..
