[CCCMB] Finally FASTA Skills Park in SLO
FASTA is finally happening and you are invited to provide your experience and opinion. For those of you who don't know, FASTA is the name for a mountain bike skills area, aka freeride area, which has been permitted by the City of SLO for the area covered by Eucs near the bottom of Shooters and Morning Glory. We are jump-starting the project with a special meeting of all interested parties.
Event: Community Outreach Meeting
When: November 8th, Monday at 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Where: We'll let you know when we figure it out.
What: An organized meeting of all interested cyclists to provide input and ideas which would be used to help design the FASTA project. The meeting will also be an opportunity for folks who want to be actively involved to step forward.
PLEASE pass the word to your riding friends that everyone is invited.
More details to follow.
Location is the Senior Center at Mitchel Park in SLO. The address is 1445 Santa Rosa. The center is between Pismo and Buchon Streets.
CCCMB has hired Hilride Progression Development Group, experts in the planning of riding areas and bike parks, to facilitate the FASTA community outreach meeting this Monday evening, November 8 at 6:30 - 8:00 at the Senior Center at Mitchell Park, 1445 Santa Rosa St. SLO.
Nat and Rachel Lopes of Hilride are expert at helping communities conceptualize and design bike parks. They have provided that service in Europe and to three communities in California: Fresno, Elk Grove and Lafayette. Many of you have ridden the Woodward Mountain Bike Park in Fresno. Attached is the concept plan for the bike park which is getting off the ground in Lafayette. Check Hilride out at www.hilride.com and http://marinscope.com/articles/2010/...e988832551.txt
Nat and Rachel will facilitate the Monday meeting to get input on the design of the FASTA skills area. The meeting will include a design development presentation and a design and concept visioning session, which includes design development surveys for participants. They will provide us with skills area feature and amenity examples and give the attendees the opportunity to provide input and help develop a unified vision for the FASTA skills area.
Using the community input gathered at the meeting, information specific to the Eucs site, and an understanding of available resources Hilride will provide the FASTA Leadership Team (to be established) with a 50% draft Concept Design Plan for review. Following the Team's review Hilride will complete a final 100% Concept Design Plan. Please note that this plan is a CONCEPT plan not a building plan. It is meant to be used as an agreed-upon overview which would guide the planning, construction and approval of the project. If you are interested in joining this Leadership Team be at the meeting Monday night.
Lastly Hilride will assist the FASTA Leadership Team in preparation of grants by providing grant writing approach recommendations, editing and direct communication with the grant administrators.
