    Woodside and Demo Forest fire

Woodside's Wunderlich Park is on fire right now.

Lightning-Sparked Wildfire Burning In Woodside « CBS San Francisco

Yesterday, there was a fire at Demo Forest and Calfire and mother nature snuffed it out.

All lightning strike caused but at least no wind and high humidity conditions.

They're calling it the Skeggs Fire

    https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&...sfire&src=typd

but it's on the other side of 84. Skeggs is the closest park to it.

Pretty sure Skeggs Point is on the east side of 35, as is the fire.
El Corte de Madera OSP is on the west side of 35.

But historically what else is called Skeggs? I mean, most of us call ElCdM 'skeggs', was it called that when it was logged/motorcycled/etc? Or was the stuff to the east called that?

I think you're right! Skeggs is just the lot and the land beneath it.

The bike trails are on El Corte de Madera park.

I've called Skeggs lots of names, particularly when climbing out on a hot day!

Huddart and Wunderlich are closed. Skeggs is open if you're into excitement and want to take photos for us.

But it's growing to 50 acres and no containment.

There were actually two distinct fires off of Kennedy yesterday. My wife and I saw the lightening hit the ground while watching from our front yard. Then 15 minutes later there was smoke. The lower one was out in under an hour. The upper one took a little longer. Pretty scary and cool all at the same time.

The Skeggs fire is 50 acres now and 5% contained.

Since there's no roads there, they're fighting it from the air and on foot. A crew of 100 firefighters hiked in this morning to establish some containment lines.Woodside and Demo Forest fire-djjwmzfvaaa4ptv.jpg

    Fire near Arastradero Preserve.

There were over 1000 lightning strikes in the Bay Area yesterday and about 8 resulted in fires.

2 small fires in/near Henry Coe SP; fortunately the lightning came with rain so the fires were slow moving. Both contained was what I last heard and both around 6 acres.

One was just outside the park near the Rooster Comb Ranch and the other was between Orestimba Creek/Orestimba Creek Rd near Hartman Trail.

Aircraft, 3 truck crews and one dozer.

As far as I know, there was no fire in the demo area. They were just staging as they were not sure. We were interviewed as finished our ride and reported absolutely nothing. They said they were not sure but had to play it safe anyway.

I rode Skeggs tonight, Kings Mountain road was closed as that is their closest access point, 1/2 mile or so down the road then a mile hike in, the fire crews that were bedding down for the night in the Caltrans lot were confident that the weather and manpower were going to combine to get a good line around it tonight. By the way zero smoke and good conditions in Skeggs!
    I'm the problem....
