The Weekly Ride Report: March 12-15, 2018

Daylight savings time rocks! I can leave the house at 6:00pm for a ride and get back before dark!

I've given up on the weather forecast, says rain, no rain shows, says sun, get rain....blah, blah, blah. But, it does look like rain this week.

    What's the plan??

I've been moving out of our old into our new house since Thursday. I'm thoroughly exhausted and broke. Even with hiring movers to do the heavy lifting.

You guys got It? lol I will NOT miss those stairs.

New house is on 1.5 acres (rectangle) of perfectly sloped land. Time for a pump and jump trail!

Gonna put on some wool socks, a rain shell, and get some rides in tomorrow and thursday. Not really sure where yet but i have an ace in the hole that is usually safe for rainy rides. Hopefully there isn't any rain next week though cause i'll have the week off and i'm definitely not trying to just around. That would happen though, barely rains all winter until i have a week for ride time, just my luck.

Going to try to keep the string alive and ride every damn day, throwing the plus wheels on the Hightower for some extra float in the mud for the rest of the week.
    I'm the problem....

During my commute starting from the Aerojet pedestrian overpass I spied a rider going uncanny-fast through the woods. Later he passed me going up the Hazel bridge and I saw the giant down tube and BB. Then he flew up the trail to the overlook above. It's the first e-MTB I've seen in the wild. It's pretty rare so far for me to see any e-bike on my commute, I think the last one was a Pedego or something similar about two years ago.

I do a commute ride that takes me through Tennessee Valley, up Coyote Ride and down Tenderfoot into Mill Valley a few times a week. From time to time I see deer, squirrels, bunnies, newts, turkey vultures, hawks, falcons, and coyotes. Today I saw a F-ing mountain lion!!!

It's pretty awesome! It's been like an endurance trial getting the place with everything that could go wrong did but we're in now.

And then I got this notice. Super stoked for super slow-mo.

We have baseball games every afternoon and I'm the official videographer.

Ha, ha... those will all be cancelled.

Time to ride bikes. Or lube them.

The Weekly Ride Report: March 12-15, 2018

I surprisingly snuck a lap down solstice in yesterday. My son was born on the 4th. Between the baby and trying to get the dump we bought a month ago ready to move into free time has been low and stress has been high. Yesterday I got back from the new house around noon and my wife says "it's supposed to get pretty rainy, you should go get a ride in".

Congrats. We're in the market for house now too. I can't believe that dumps are getting into bidding wars too and going for 20-25% over asking. Did you find a good contractor to help with the renos?

Thanks everyone. I've already been looking at kids bikes, there is some cool shit available these days!

I hired a roofing by contractor but have been doing the rest myself. Sheetrock and paint are done and I'll be finishing floors and trim this week. Hopefully I can start moving things in next week before I go back to work. Housing prices are insane, it makes me sick. This is my wife an my dream house so it was worth it. It's on a little over 1/2 acre at the end of a private drive with access to various trail heads less than a mile in 3 different directions, and as a bonus it has a very healthy well that we'll be using to irrigate our garden.

    @little_twin

I started my first kid out on a Strider, bought at age 1.5. That worked well, it's a solid product, but he didn't get good til 2.5-3 and then he outgrew it too soon. Now he's on a 12" pedal bike without pedals which isn't ideal either. By the time he gets the pedals he will need a 16er and I feel like I've bought an extra bike in the sequence. I've seen him going full tilt on tricycles so I know it's just a mental block now to get him pedaling his bike. He's not 4 yet.

The twins (now 1yo) will go on something with air tires and capable of mounting hand brakes, when they're 2 or later.
