I miss Chico State, use to go there during the odd weekdays and weekends when friends were enrolled. That place was crazy on any given night, glad to see the pics still support that.

Buddy lives in Chico still, got to drag my ass up there!

most rides vary from one to three hours, with a one hour ride for most being a three hour ride for myself.
with that said, I may or may not show for a start time, but if I do please do not feel any obligation to slow your own ride or wait forever for me to catch-up.

Im in Chico. I just talked to one of my co-workers that I ride with, and he will be ready to go too. I told him meet at Dutch Bros on Skyway at 8:15. The EED parking lot is right behind it, and makes for a nice place to leave cars.

    So whats the plan?

    Nice ride today

Guy's it was Great meeting you today. I look forward to more rides

I forgot to tell you guys that on the way up North fork Trail( I think) I found some barb wire stung across the trail
If we would have been going down the trail instead of up that could have caused a pretty bad accident.

Besides that it was a great day to be out on the bike enjoyed the company

It was an old rusted piece of barb wire fence about 4 feet long placed directly on the trail. I picked it up and tossed it over by a fallen down tree. There is no old fence any were near where I found the barb wire fence.
Making me think it was placed there on purpose.

Finnaly got a few minutes to be able to get a couple posts made.

First off, Thanks to norcalchico and his friends for a great ride on Sunday morning. Couldn't ask for a better group of guys to ride with. Definitly looking forward to catching some more rides with you guys. The day was perfect as well. And now its RAINING! oh well, trails will be tacky again in a few days.

The trails in Oroville were a nice change from the rough and rocky Upper Bidwell rides we all do so much. Its almost hard to remember how to ride smooth flowing turns. Usually its just hang on and hope you catch all the right bounces around here.

I sure didnt live up to Melts Photo Journalism for the day though. Here are a couple pics from the dam.

Oh yeah, Did anyone else end up with anything like this?

Looks like there must have been some Ivy or Sumac on one of the low hanging branches we went under. there was 1 or 2 that I rubbed pretty good even going under with my chin on the bars. This snuck in just under my shirt and camelback strap.

On one of our sunday rides we saw some girl solo a few times. We were grabbin some brews for the icechest at rays on Walnut. She rode by. We passed her just before 5 mile, then again on middle after climbing north rim to maidu, then again on middle coming back from Browns Hole, then on lower after messin around on middle/upper. Poor girl prolly thought we were stalking her. But I must say, shes the only girl that I have seen out in a while. If we run into her again Ill point her to your post.

try going here and looking for maps

even if I had a high res map, my 26K connection would discourage me sending it
ps the map in previous post I have added things to, like a rough version of the cow paths

so it was lying on the trail rather than strung between trees?
keep your eyes open and you will see some large rolls of barbed wire just off the trail on the southern side of Potters, also the area has lot of history, so old fences abound. but it would not shock me at all for some idiot (I have a few names in miind) to lay out the wire to flatten the tires from the evil mt biker hoards.

Thanks for the link LWright. I can make use of that for sure.

Im not real sure on the location of that wire in relationship tp much, but it was below the top of the damn, prolly about half way down the hill fropm the potters trail marker. It looked to be about a 6 foot long piece loosely coiled right next to the trail. I know one was not attached to anything, as it was right at the trail edge.

I didnt think to much of it being out of place as we were climbing the hill,(and not familiar with the area) but norcalchico made a good point, it could be messy if you caught it going at speed downhill, and that would have been easy to do.

Ummm..we came from Burma Road, went through the gate, then wound around and up. If I recall correctly, it was in the middle of the longer climb right before you came up to the top of the dam.

On a side note. If anyone has to get a shot of cortizone from the Dr. I highly recommend Chico Immediate Care on Vallambrosia after 7:30pm. The nursing care is top notch.

My one "Boil" I woke up with, ended up looking like I was caned all over my back and some on my stomache/chest area. Nothing like any poison oak I've had before. So I went to get it checked out. Doc said it was some kind of dermatitis caused by PO or some other plant I was allergic to. Could have been the Fig tree I cut down on saturday, but the delayed symptoms put it more likey to have picked it up on the trail. Either way, if you have to get a shot in the butt, I dont think you can beat the ladies that were working the night shift tonite.

sorry, I couldn't resist the sarcasm...

bullards is definitely worth the drive...especially if you park at dark day and ride up the trail to the top of the jumps and then back...it's a good little trek and some fast and flowy parts...

hope you're enjoying Chico...lots of pretty little ladies here... unfortunately I have yet to find any that ride more than to lay out at browns or salmon hole...or on the road...
