I miss Chico State, use to go there during the odd weekdays and weekends when friends were enrolled. That place was crazy on any given night, glad to see the pics still support that.

Buddy lives in Chico still, got to drag my ass up there!

most rides vary from one to three hours, with a one hour ride for most being a three hour ride for myself.
with that said, I may or may not show for a start time, but if I do please do not feel any obligation to slow your own ride or wait forever for me to catch-up.

Im in Chico. I just talked to one of my co-workers that I ride with, and he will be ready to go too. I told him meet at Dutch Bros on Skyway at 8:15. The EED parking lot is right behind it, and makes for a nice place to leave cars.

    So whats the plan?

    Nice ride today

Guy's it was Great meeting you today. I look forward to more rides

I forgot to tell you guys that on the way up North fork Trail( I think) I found some barb wire stung across the trail
If we would have been going down the trail instead of up that could have caused a pretty bad accident.

Besides that it was a great day to be out on the bike enjoyed the company

It was an old rusted piece of barb wire fence about 4 feet long placed directly on the trail. I picked it up and tossed it over by a fallen down tree. There is no old fence any were near where I found the barb wire fence.
Making me think it was placed there on purpose.

Finnaly got a few minutes to be able to get a couple posts made.

First off, Thanks to norcalchico and his friends for a great ride on Sunday morning. Couldn't ask for a better group of guys to ride with. Definitly looking forward to catching some more rides with you guys. The day was perfect as well. And now its RAINING! oh well, trails will be tacky again in a few days.

The trails in Oroville were a nice change from the rough and rocky Upper Bidwell rides we all do so much. Its almost hard to remember how to ride smooth flowing turns. Usually its just hang on and hope you catch all the right bounces around here.

I sure didnt live up to Melts Photo Journalism for the day though. Here are a couple pics from the dam.

Oh yeah, Did anyone else end up with anything like this?

Looks like there must have been some Ivy or Sumac on one of the low hanging branches we went under. there was 1 or 2 that I rubbed pretty good even going under with my chin on the bars. This snuck in just under my shirt and camelback strap.

On one of our sunday rides we saw some girl solo a few times. We were grabbin some brews for the icechest at rays on Walnut. She rode by. We passed her just before 5 mile, then again on middle after climbing north rim to maidu, then again on middle coming back from Browns Hole, then on lower after messin around on middle/upper. Poor girl prolly thought we were stalking her. But I must say, shes the only girl that I have seen out in a while. If we run into her again Ill point her to your post.

so it was lying on the trail rather than strung between trees?
keep your eyes open and you will see some large rolls of barbed wire just off the trail on the southern side of Potters, also the area has lot of history, so old fences abound. but it would not shock me at all for some idiot (I have a few names in miind) to lay out the wire to flatten the tires from the evil mt biker hoards.

Thanks for the link LWright. I can make use of that for sure.

Im not real sure on the location of that wire in relationship tp much, but it was below the top of the damn, prolly about half way down the hill fropm the potters trail marker. It looked to be about a 6 foot long piece loosely coiled right next to the trail. I know one was not attached to anything, as it was right at the trail edge.

I didnt think to much of it being out of place as we were climbing the hill,(and not familiar with the area) but norcalchico made a good point, it could be messy if you caught it going at speed downhill, and that would have been easy to do.

Ummm..we came from Burma Road, went through the gate, then wound around and up. If I recall correctly, it was in the middle of the longer climb right before you came up to the top of the dam.

On a side note. If anyone has to get a shot of cortizone from the Dr. I highly recommend Chico Immediate Care on Vallambrosia after 7:30pm. The nursing care is top notch.

My one "Boil" I woke up with, ended up looking like I was caned all over my back and some on my stomache/chest area. Nothing like any poison oak I've had before. So I went to get it checked out. Doc said it was some kind of dermatitis caused by PO or some other plant I was allergic to. Could have been the Fig tree I cut down on saturday, but the delayed symptoms put it more likey to have picked it up on the trail. Either way, if you have to get a shot in the butt, I dont think you can beat the ladies that were working the night shift tonite.

sorry, I couldn't resist the sarcasm...

bullards is definitely worth the drive...especially if you park at dark day and ride up the trail to the top of the jumps and then back...it's a good little trek and some fast and flowy parts...

hope you're enjoying Chico...lots of pretty little ladies here... unfortunately I have yet to find any that ride more than to lay out at browns or salmon hole...or on the road...

I absolutley love chico, everybody is so nice here including the women .... i love how you can just talk to people and everyones so sociable.

it would be nice for me to find some that ride too ... although i will admit when im on guardians on hot days knowing theres some laying out at browns is motivation to drop down bloddy pin trail

I love bloody pin...unfortunately I HATE golf ball hill...I have yet to figure out how one could possibly ride up that...I can barely walk it without slipping sometimes...plus I prefer the technical riding of the guardian...

haha...that's funny...do you spy on them from the cliff??

good luck finding ladies to ride with...XC might be more of a possibility...but I have yet to find any aggressive riders, especially when it comes to DH...I know Kathy Pruitt just moved to the area...pretty sure she's a bit above my skill level though...

and people are so sociable here cuz they're usually drunk...

hehe...I see...I never ride near lower park...it's too paved...
maybe you should learn to concentrate more when riding...

and yes, I get quite a giggle from many antics the young ladies provide in Chico...some of them haven't discovered logic yet...

Unforunately, I was not able to properly portray the fact that this was not a good sight. Otherwise You wouldnt hear me *****in

Past the B trail turn, the trail goes up, but gets really overgrown. Unrideable. I think the trail hasn't been used in 40 somethin years. Im not sure if there is a new trail down by the fence though.

We will be going up north rim tomarrow afternoon if your going that late.

4 or 5 years ago we kept going on north rim and came out at Richardson Springs. Think you can make Cohasset if you keep going. could be wrong though.

    Glad your alright Lyle!

Such nice scenery, You can barely make out part of the lake in the background

At at the top of the dam. NorthFork, Potters Ravine, and some cow trails all from right here.

    Trials Star! NOT

Here is what Lwrights Helmet looked like after his big finale. Not a single web was not cracked on hte left half of this helmet. if it wasnt for the outer membrane, iot would have been in atleast 15 pieces

    mmmmm Good Stuff!

    Had Hulas for lunch thursday.

Went to the grad for dinner with the kids and some friends on Friday.

And the trails a sweet right now. Not much dust in upper park, and Oroville was just slightly damp.

My neck hurts more today, can still look over both shoulders thankfully so just a matter of time for neck to be ok.
My chest feels much better today, I can take a full breath. Was not able to yesterday whithout a whole lot of agony. Came dinner time, as I started to eat, with just about every bite,(no the food was not spicy) I would get the hiccups, which expanded my chest whether I wanted to or not. Hurt like hell. Hurt like hell. Hurt like hell.
    You guys were great btw.

Nice pics Melt, I needed a change of scenery myself. I've been riding out there atleast 2-3 times a week. North Rim is sweet, but it was time for something different. I have not ridden south rim in a while, maybe I should check it out.

    The following provide by your friendly member of the Lake Oroville Bicycle Patrol Unit;
Folks, the word from Mr. Ranger is that the section of Beebe trail is closed due to a nesting Bald Eagle.
On a brighter note, Potters was still open last I looked.

    OK now for a few thoughts of my own;
I got nuthin ginst the birds, but the people out to make life easier for them (not Parks and Rec btw) need to do some re-thinkin.
Them birds nested there knowing about all the traffic and decided it was a nice neighborhood anyway.
Now them bird-brains go and close a lightly used non-motorized trail in order to "protect" the birds.
Now this trail is not exactly deep in the wilderness, but is about 100 to 200 yards from Oro Dam Blvd, a heavily (ok maybe moderately) used road that remains open.
The Beebe as it runs next to Glen Creek is soooooo nice and zen like.
makes no sense to close it for some evolved chicken that is no longer endangered.
I would be very hesitant to violate the closure though, as it is a whole different ballgame than the "no bikes because some whinny idiots are for now getting their way" closure.

Sea Otter sounds fun. I had planned on going down for a couple of day's but it just didn't work out. I still would be up for going on sunday. It would have to be pretty early to drive down. If not, I'm down for a ride on Sunday. I'll ask Chad today if sea Otter is in the picture?
