The Weekend Sunset, Ride, and Trail Conditions Report Aug 10-12, 2018

With all the particulate in the air, we are getting some incredibly beautiful and unusual sunsets in the Bay Area. Let's see some of yours.

The Weekend Sunset, Ride, and Trail Conditions Report Aug 10-12, 2018-img_8630.jpg

No rain and milder temps this weekend. I got no riding in this week, so hope to get some miles in this weekend. Ride and condition reports are appreciated.

Be careful out there folks. The smoke is no joke.

    Recognizing the symptoms

Wildfire smoke’s impacts on the human body can present themselves in a number of ways and can lead to chronic health issues.

“Look for changes in your voice and burning in the nasal cavity, the mouth and the throat, which would indicate that you are getting exposure that is irritating the lining of your airway,” Ordon said.

Other symptoms include headache, eye irritation, chest pain, sore throat, runny nose and shortness of breath.

Was planning to head to Skeggs today but got a little lazy. Went for an easy spin at Arastradero and I think my rear hub blew up. Need to take it apart. Good thing I wasn't at the bottom of Skeggs near sunset!

Hit Harvey West with the little guy before heading to the beach - such a fun spot. We left just as the SE bike party rolled through with hundreds of riders.

Yeah we saw that group at The Tannery as we were leaving SC - that was a lot of riders!

I had a group coworker outing/excursion up in SF on Saturday, and I tried to convince them that we needed to get to Ocean Beach or Marin Headlands to see the sunset, but they’re all a bunch of millenials who have a problem listening to the voice of wisdom. So we missed out. Whatevers. These little kids are the driving force of the future.
one by nine works just fine but single speed is all ya need
BTW, it’s called “sarcasm”; you’re soaking in it!

Got to ride Wasatch Crest Trail on Friday. Gorgeous up there. A bit smokey in Salt Lake.

Big day in SC, sitting on my ass at Verve! Bike maintenance day. Lesson learned: the chain stretch tolerance on GX Eagle is tight. Just a little stretch was enough to affect my shifting, leading me to bend my derailleur hanger on a really bad shift.

Don't know how anyone could have taken a pic at the Verve without capturing some nubile eye candy in the periphery.

Cool meeting up with skyno and crew in SC on Sat. Tons of people out there, randomly ran into a buddy I haven't seen for a few years

I haven't been out there on a midday weekend in a while. I couldn't believe how many people were out here. Rincon lot was overflowing and people parked up and down Hwy 9 past the lot both directions. Crazy. Reminded me why I try to avoid prime time!

Headed up to Pacifica Sun. Weird little microclimate there. It was totally fogged in up high, and cold and windy. I actually had to bust out the jacket. Pics were mostly of fog, so - fun with filters instead!

Hit a new-to-me booter, super fun!

RIP to the UC donut tank artwork. That did not last long. New one also looks sweet though.

I'm pretty sure there was a pic or 2 of the donut tank from the ride report threads over the past couple weeks
