Black Friday: Brown Pow sale at Demo!

We got in 20 delicious miles, dropping Sawpit (ride it before it gets logged!) and Flow. Just about perfect. Lots of stoked people out, but not crowded on the trails. A dude, Brandon, miracled us with a couple beers in the parking lot. Only bummer- Lots of emergency vehicles headed by as we drove out. Not surprising as we saw several people that thought it would be a good idea to take their newb friends there with ancient hardtails rocking telescope stems and cantilever brakes.

    Black Friday quick hitter

Did a short ride today up Kennedy to the tree. A darn honey bee flew in my helmet and I was thinking they were removed from the gate brick and mortar hive. Sly is riding ridiculously good right now but 11" of snow is forecast for Sat afternoon to Sunday morning. Next Sunday is looking like another good day up there.

Got out today despite all odds and was rewarded. Singlespeedmedia, Tony and Alex was with us.

Every jump at Braille then we did the black dirt of Flow. It was INSANE!!!

On the climb out, an armada of rescue vehicles came down. An older guy in a big group augered on the jump right before Braile Trail. Most likely a shoulder injury.

So many new faces... we talked to them ALL.

Are the majority of trails sandy? Would it be a good place to take a newer rider? Anyone else can chime in who has ridden it more often?

Thanks for the update. I figured Manzanita would take longer to dry out so we'll stick with the other side of the canyon this weekend.

Always good to see you out on the trails Bob! Easy to see you coming now, with the new bike.
You guys must have been going more steep and deep than us. We only got 2600 ft.
The great riding weather, combined for really fun conditions yesterday, makes you realize how lucky we all are to have such great places to ride!
Everyone we came across seemed to be pumped!

Got a Fremont Older ride on Thanksgiving day, me and a few hikers, then on the 25th had a very nice ride up and down the John Nicholas Trail. Conditions were perfect out there on both rides.

Quick run up to Sand Point in Nisene to work out a quarter of my thanksgiving caloric intake.

Loads of people out walking down low, dirt was nice. May have to hit Ord tomorrow if I get clearance from the tower.

This is the rain that fell in the last 48 hours. It's pretty significant in the hills and there's more spotty rain falling today.

I call this road ride weather or garage project time.

It looks like we'll have a long period of dry weather after today.Weekend Ride Report November 25th - 27th-1-screen-shot-2016-11-27-7.21.19-am.jpg

Since the rain fell last night, no.

I can tell you that .6 inches of rain fell in the last 24 hours.

Since that place drains well, get a late start and by noon, that place should be fine and dandy. We have clear weather until the last round of rain tonight.

Los Gatos saw a fair amount of rain... Filled up almost half my 500 gallon water tank last night alone.

I headed out around 10 from my pad and went up Black Road to hit John Nicholas... Lots of Xmas tree traffic... Perhaps not the best time to go up this road. But was rewarded with some great trail conditions aside from it being cold as **** up top. Then I went back up and descended El Sereno which was also in great shape. 4k footies and pretty dang fun ride on my dh bike. Now I'm off to get a tree myself.

Went Running in the Rain on Saturday, today I did a nice road ride instead of going full mud fest

33.24 miles in 2.5 hours. I did the 2.2 mile climb up to Lake Del Valle out of the saddle the entire way. Longest and hardest effort ride I have done in years.

I've flown the coop and found a land where jumps abound, berms are massive and housing is sane. Just abundant water - both liquid and frozen will dampen (har har) the riding for a few months.

Got a Christmas tree today at Summit Road with the family. We then went to Summit Store for some sandwiches.

Saw about 7 vehicles stop by for some food at the store. Problem was almost every bike was covered in mud. With an inch and half of rain at Demo last night, the ground was soft and muddy. All these riders EFFED it up real good. Nice job.Weekend Ride Report November 25th - 27th-15241380_10154620023923213_8565339383399859746_n.jpg

Did a short road ride around 40 miles today. Would have stayed out longer but I forgot my light at home.

Was going to ride but decided to save the trails and upgraded my year old drivetrain train instead for the dry weather and hero dirt later this week...

I cannot wait for good conditions - a couple trails are like demo flow on steroids - definitely shorter but bigger berms and *nice* multi-line progressive hits. So much rad. It's raining for the foreseeable future, so went 4wheeling this afternoon.

I hope to see you up here in the spring!!

We didn't want to end up the recipient of a Trail builder's wrath so we stayed local (Nevada City) and hit up a short trail in town that doesn't get too mucked up. We ran out of light which made for an interesting last 2 miles with no headlamps. Haha

Glad to see you hit the ground running up there! I'm gonna miss seeing you crush the SC trails. I'm more than a little jealous. Like I told you, the riding there made us want to move, but the drip-drip sent us south! Hope to get a tour some time.

Friends don't let friends ride e-"bikes" on dirt.

Took the family to Ord saw a coyouger as my my 6 year called it. It rained all night in Aptos and I couldn't imagine riding locally. Fun and there were loads of cars at Gigling but didn't see hardly anyone out on the trails.

-What FC said Tone. 8th & G trails will be really good. We even had a little unexpected sprinkle in the early AM hours.

The Creekside entrance will be mostly Ok. The usual mucky spot's will be, uhhh, mucky.

^ Very likely 2 clean-ish cut looking dudes who pulled up in a Cadillac sedan shortly before we rolled out. They parked, started walking towards the lake... we took off... they waited until we were gone and broke into both of our trucks. All they took from me was a pair of sunglasses. They got my buddy's wallet, ipod and briefcase. Odds of catching them are currently high, pending some video from their shopping sprees at Home Depot and Target.

Newish Caddy with big shiny rims? I saw one near Confluence last week and it looked out of place for a cool weeknight evening.

Headed up north to Bend for Thanksgiving weekend. Stopped by Shasta on the way... the biking up high might be done for a while, but the snowpack is fat!

Bend was awesome. Great snow up high, great dirt down low. Whoops was right one the line when I was there. Snow on the way up, and a tad slick at the top:

... turning to hero dirt about 1/3 of the way down!

    Did I mention hero dirt??

Had a great few days up there.

    Got shuttles?

    Got gaps?

    Got doggies?

    Got skin track?

    Got pow?

Sweet Jim, looks like some quality turns there, I finally got to do some sliding on snow for the last 5 days in a row, east winds kinda shut things down today and sent me back to the fat bike. Back to brown pow tomorrow till the next storm

He and another dude broke into my rig and my buddy's rig.... while we were doing trail work in the pouring rain! I lost nothing of value, other than the window. They found my buddy's wallet (among other items of value) in his truck and went on a big shopping spree and other ID theft crimes. He's a known criminal to State Parks. He's probably (I'm guessing) responsible for other trail head break-ins at FLSRA and ASRA. Interesting he was arrested by Placer Sheriff Dept.
