    Weekday Ride Report: July 17th-20th

Well, it's supposed to cool down some...I got pretty cooked yesterday. No ride today but, I'm heading back up to South Lake Tahoe tomorrow...with skyno again. We'll post up some pics when we have them.

Skyno and Griz in Tahoe again??? Zero invites too.

I'll ride today for 2 hours and every single day this week. That is the goal since I don't feel awesome and I think I need to pedal more consistently and eat better.

You're always invited FC - Griz may even invite you to share his sleeping bag like he did for Squashyo

Maybe Trek should have worked on that instead of the knock-block bs.

Agree this should have been addressed. Knock Block is not ideal but it doesn't bother me on these bikes. It allowed this stiffy to be 5.9 lbs. . But I did mod it to get max turning radius.

Also, it bothers me on the lower travel bikes like the Fuel.

Specialized has tiny foam cable insulation for internal cabling. However, I don't know if any companies sell it because I have looked for it in the past and didn't find anything.

Hey, they have a condom inside.

Don't know why the Slash is this way, maybe cause it's limited production right now. I think their other bikes have this more dialed. Mos new companies now have a solid guide inside that you just feed the cable through and it pops out on the other ise.

Be careful riding today and until they get this fire out. The smoke from the Mariposa fire is creating unhealthy air up here in Auburn and we had to call off our Georgetown ride this afternoon because it's even worse up there.

I finally got to ride White Oak trail (near Stevens Canyon Trail) again after a long absence.

It's very good now. Highly roughed up from rains and then baked. Entertaining.

And I got a Plus tire on a Hightower LT. Fits with lots of room and Norcal loooow. Lots of room like before but no more flip chip to lift the rears.

Looks fun... I may need to get an extra set of plus wheels, step the fork up to 160mm and try this.

Riding around Monte Bello OSP today I found that law enforcement was staging a raid—pot farm, I assume—from the top of Black Mountain. They were dropping agents into nearby Rancho San Antonio OSP by helicopter. I haven't seen anything in the news about this.

Rode Overgrown in Los Gatos for the first time in a long time.

A lot of work and sanitization was done there it seems. Not a lot of rocks and ruts anymore.

But full of gravel. Someone have a broom?

Tomorrow I'm riding Exchequer Mtn Bike Park by Lake McClure, which is pretty much ground zero for the beginning of the Detwiler Fire. It's since moved east towards Mariposa so I hope the air is reasonably clear. If not, I'll just bail.

Griz and I did a little mid-week spin just to warm up a bit in South Lake over the past couple days. Day 1 up TRT from Big Meadow, Toads, over to Armstrong Connector, Upper and Lower Coral. Day 2 Up Armstrong, up TRT to Star Lake, down Star Lake Connector, High Meadow, and finished on Upper and Lower Cold Creek. I think we are warmed up .

As you can see, still plenty of snow up near Freel & we had a bit of a hard time following the trail and there were still lots of snow drifts on the descent to Star Lake. Here's a vid Griz playing in the snow. Unfortunately, he did not film me unintentionally eating snow when I attempted this! The man is gifted when it comes to riding snow - narrow 26" rear wheels too!

Actually, an anyone tell me how to post a video? I thought I had done it before but forgot how!

That's right - for some reason I was thinking there was a way to post a video directly - that might be a great upgrade for this site - too much work to go through a 3rd party - especially on a mobile device!

Haha. Hardly a condom. More like plumbing pipe insulation. It is simple but works well. My cable insulation came included with my frame.

It is good for a few reasons. 1. It is really light. Only a few grams 2. It saves weight than having solid guide in frame. 3. Production cost is lower because they don't have to fabricate a carbon guide inside.

They have it on EBay but they are charging a lot for it. In reality it probably costs only 10 cents a foot.

I was just in Pollock Pines about 4 hrs ago...smoky, but it all depends on what the wind does.

    Condition of Panaroma trail

    Hi everyone,

I'm new. well not new but I registered 2 years ago and haven't been posting anything. Which also means I ride for 2 years now.

I'm in Fremont so not much around here. I was on Panorama trail in Mission Peak area today. The condition is horrible thanks to the cows and it doesn't look like EBRPD do any maintenance on it

here is the video, (narrow angle by accident)

this is the only legal single track in the area.

Right on TNN, tell us about yourself. What do you ride and where.

My first ride was on Panorama Trail and Mission Peak (Stanford side). Then I just went for two years up Mission Peak. It was all I knew. Sucky but builds character.

    Hi fc,

I met you at UCSC about 3 weeks ago, when I rode with my friend Paul Nguyen. (hope you remember) ;-)

I ride 2 times a weeks, sometimes more, mostly at Dry Creek, Mission Peak, Vargas Plateau, Coyote Hills and Pleasanton Ridge... not much in this area, mostly fire road. This is all I know the last 2 years....

I'm still beginner and lots to learn. ;-) I did have a few chances riding UCSC and Demo. love it.

Rode Carlmont and Waterdog for a bit today. Never had been to waterdog only wandered over there because told me it was a mile or two away, not my cup of tea unfortunately. Carlmont was nice though perfect weather out there, wasn't even windy until later on.Weekday Ride Report: July 17th-20th-img_1602.jpgWeekday Ride Report: July 17th-20th-img_1604%5B1%5D.jpg
