I think there was always a way to do this with software, but that would cost$$. I can't remember what it's called. It's also not easy either.

This website just made it easy.

Itís just an XML file. If you seriously have run out of things to do, then by all means, have fun tampering with the file in a text editor and then upload to Strava. Weíll just flag it anyway and youíll be the douchebag.

Finally..an explanation for my dearth of KOM's. I knew it had to be rigged!!! I just can't believe how many people are already doing this. I know there are a few people climbing faster than me, but several hundred? "I am shocked, shocked to find that digitalEPO is going on here!"

For those who dont have the riding skill or fitness to actually get a KOM. Its sad, the world is full of cheaters and those trying to get something without doing anything.

    Hilarious.

It was only a question of time before "virtual" doping came to "virtual" racing.

The fact that people even care about KOM enough to "tag it" strikes me as ironic.

Sure it does, if its a timed segment through a super technical section, skill has a lot to do with it.

The US Postal service called EPO "edgar", referring to Edgar Allan Poe.

Who cares? Strava isn't accurate anyway.

Throw in a north facing slope and some trees and you have +/- 5 minutes on a 3 minute segment. Hilarious!

I am sure the anti Strava people love this but here is the problems in your evil plot.

If somebody beats the current KOM/QOM by too much time it will look suspicious and get flagged.

The people who don't want their false times flagged will only beat the current leaders by a second or two causing the the real current leader to ride like d0uche to get his title back.
Just stick it in granny and start grinding.

Look at the segments for Endor. 1:30 hahaha! 2X faster than the fastest rider I know. A super human? Nope. North facing and trees. This isn't uncommon. I can think of a dozen popular segments that fall under this category right off the top of my head.

Seeing that the Endor KOM was not flagged proves that users only want to be fastest, inaccurate data be damned.

That's the beauty of it, you get to screw with them again and again. Once they take your EPO'd KOM, you nudge up your speed just enough to beat him by 10 seconds.

    Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

You could always do it with a text editor and a calculator. Writing a script to do that could be a useful interview question.

It's a 20 min scripting job at most with your favorite perl/ruby/python XML toolkit. Trivially easy if you know how to parse xml.

    That's exactly my point.
People b*tch about people riding like a d0uche to chase a KOM but then create a situation to further bait the d0uche and have him act like a bigger d0uche trying to chase a fake KOM.

Maybe it's a Kubrik reference: "POE" = "Purity of Essence" Kubrik would have loved the idea of people driven to reckless lengths by computer program, like horses driven by a mad rider. (Hmm, there might be a movie script here...)
Then again, maybe I'll switch from IPAs to rainwater and grain alcohol!

Last year I thought I would mess with Weir by bagging one of his KOM's at DV on my Moto. He knows I am old and slow so I could get a rise out of him. The problems arose when I couldn't beat his time on a 300 KTM and I can ride a moto a little bit. Much respect to the really fast guys. I guess this means that I am really old and slow.

Now, if only we can create an app that prevents *******s from making segments on non-sanctioned/secret trails. I am still bitter...

This site is satire and my post was in that spirit. I can't see anyone who doesn't like strava going to the effort to actually do this.

That anyone actually takes this serious enough to get agitated is the funny part.

Personally, I could care less either way.
My only chance of getting KOM is if I set up my own segment and nobody else ever rides it. haha

As far as acting like d0uches, I don't think Strava makes people act like d0uches, I think their d0uchey attitude makes them act like d0uches.

So which is it, seems here you are admitting Strava has created a situation in which people act like d0uches to chase a KOM, fake or not

Well maybe in a few monthís as most of these KOMís become suspect, folks will stop chasing them.
