Lots of good riding around Bear Valley if you are training for the Death Ride. Mix the road rides up with long MTB rides and you will not have to give up the dirt. Plenty of locals up there in weeks before the death Ride to train with.

If you want to train for DR you can join us on a 3 day Sierras ride. The 3 day tour will take place July 10-12. This year we are going over Sonora pass, which has unbelievably steep grades, so it is likely to be only a tad easier than last year. The tentative plan is to start in Sonora, 1st day is over Sonora pass to Brideport (93 miles), 2nd day is to Yosemite valley over Tioga (100 mi -- we have a reservation in the Ahwahnee) and the 3rd day is were things are shortened, back to Sonora ("only" 70 mi). As far as climbing is concerned, the first day is likely to be about 10,000 ft, the second day about 8,000 ft and the third day should be no more that 5000 ft. Again this is just an estimate, but it certainly will not be more climbing than last year which was 27,000 ft. Here is the planned route:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sadd...,0.940704&z=10

Ahhh, too bad it is the same time as the DR.

    Tease!

I'd be unbearable to live with if my wheels never touched dirt so I won't stable the Mojo just yet. I have a house off HWY 88 so I'll be doing lots of altitude training (both dirt and pavement) this spring. It's them crazy long roadie rides I have to do in prep for those 129 miles that have me shuddering. And some other crazy mtber to be left unnamed (monsterstick) is waving the TOE MTB 50 in front of me now. If I didn't know better I think someone is out to kill me. Guess he's worried I'll steal his hole shot in 2009. ;-)

You are a strong rider, just get some nuun and anything that works for you against cramps. Just be careful on Ebbets, it is a bit tough and treacherous. We rode it last year during the first day which was 112mi/12Kft. Next day we climbed Monitor and I felt better than the first day!

I remember one spring break in San Felipe where I was first introduced to the cougar lifestyle. She was almost as hot as msrutzie.

I'm not worried. I have no problem stalking prey right now. So far the prey still seems intrigued enough to 'play' a little. It's when the prey see me, scream and run that I'll order my rocking chair, bottle of whiskey and shot gun. Better start painting my porch now. ;-)

    Hmmm lets see.

Zebulon will be PACKED full of beautiful people today due to the insanely great weather, they have somewhat of a patio and open air area, in a packed work/drinking area of SoMa. And some people got paid and the economy sucks so those are good factors for Friday drinking.

Game don't leave home without it . Sounds like a fun event, let some friends know.
