    Thursday Night Gap Ride!

Well folks, it seems like its that time of the year again! Thats right, its time to ride bikes Thursdays after work up @ Saratoga Gap. it seems like we will be a bit short on light, sunset looks to be around 19:29.... but we should have enough time to get a loop around Peters Creek.

Meet at the Hwy 9@35 lot.

    Rolling at 17:30.

Parking lot social hour to follow.

PM always rides fast because he's a KOM whore, but if I'm there (not tonight) I'll be sure to set a draggin' ass pace.

The pace is very mixed. It is a lasso loop so faster riders do more loops on lasso end.

Fast riders attend but also spouses and kids come out too.

Funny I always describe it as a lolly-pop loop.
I guess that makes me more of a Shirley Temple rather than a Roy Rogers! haha.

Good briefly seeing everyone in the parking lot after the ride! I managed to run almost a half hour late to my own ride. Whoooops. Forgot the bike and had to get it after work... still good to see everyone!

see you all out there next week!

We started promptly at 5:30 with a group that was hammerin!!! Paul Marshall was leading the charge with his fine recovery from the arthritis that sidelined him for 5 months.

Chris aka Randomroot was there and new kids Edgar and Meng were present.

We then saw Marco, Dylan, TJ, Alex

Pretty fun ride I will say! I tell ya it was hard to follow FC since I was on my knobless XC tires that are far too gone to continue riding with. Every turn felt like a wash out and two wheel drifts were abundant. Good to meet some guys face to face and some new ones too. If FC would have let me, I might have offered to do a few hard core parking lot donuts in that ridiculous car! Another time. Great photos too.

It is a test car he is driving this week. Must be hard having a only 470 hp! I still think the car is a piece but I would roast those tires till the caught fire.

The great Marco Boldt fell last night and cut his knee. A few weeks ago, one of my buddies fell at the exact same spot and laid on the ground for a while.

If you do this ride, you absolutely have to pay attention to the fire road heading out.

After the bench vista point, you descend and do a short hammer climb. Then you will go through a couple sweeping right turns at high speed. These turns are rutted and off camber so approach with caution. Spot your line on when you're gonna cross the rut and plant your left foot down hard to maintain traction. This section will get trickier as the season progresses so many will fall.

The TNGR rides are a great way to get to know new riders. One of the challenges is that many people do not commit, or do not reply to the thread, so you will never know who will show up. A lot of new people are still tentative about joining in, worrying about the pace, or where to go. The next time I'm available to join, and maybe later in the summer, too, when more folks are interested, I will volunteer to lead B/C pace groups for a true no drop ride.

Here is the car. It has extra torque to compensate for the weight of this bike.

For sure. Nothing like they used to make them back in the 1960s through early early 1970s. Bloated turds in modern-day trim, unfortunately.
