Did a few miles with Finch and Fred-Da-Trog (yeah I still ride!) figured I'd check back in with the MTBR crew and toss a few Pics.
Gary showing off his crazy technical skilz on a 3' drop off a little fall. Untitled by mtb_ogre
Some folks say Fred doesn't ride the big drops, but here he is at the top of a huge 30 footer, I caught him just as he was rolling the top. Untitled by mtb_ogre
Just in case he screwed up, we brought along a few spare Freds. You can never have enough. Untitled by mtb_ogre
Gary named his dog "Endo" because she is so full of endorance. That dog can run forever. Poor Roxi wound up puking in the bushes trying to keep up with her... then limped home in shame. Untitled by mtb_ogre
Some folks think Hogan is boring and ugly... well they are mostly right, but it's a solid winter trail, there are some fun technical bits, and if you know were to look, some pretty cool views this time O year. Untitled by mtb_ogre
I went old-school if you want to check the whole batch out you can see them in a little better resolution on Flickr.

Damn, you go away and come back with some nice pic skillz? Wuzzup widdat? I'd like a big copy of the one with the 2 dogs and Fred (you can Photoshop him out, right?), if you don't mind.
Good times, good times. Probably going up again tomorrow (Sun). What the phuck, you only live once, and work looks like it's going to pick up, so I should break my neck while I still can.
Couple of riders up there today (Sat). One guy passed me as I was working on the lower trail. We're talking maybe 500 yards into the thing, and he looked like he was ready to keel over. And no, he didn't ask if he could help with trailwork. Come to think of it, he rode by me on the way out as I finished up Goatse, and I almost asked him if he wanted to be the first to ride it. I choked that back real quick.
Found a most excellent restaurant in Valley Springs. Kind of pricey, but they keep fcuking up my orders so I get free food & bevs!
No can do Tomorrow, I could get out on Monday though.
No Mon for me, as Tues will be the big NYD hangover ride. Steve's wanting to throw a ride up in Auburn, but I'd like to stick closer to home (read: Hogan).
Oh, and a couple of pics. The one shot is the new trail coming out of Oak Knoll (edit: whoops, that's Dennis riding where we planned for the trail to be. See next post for before & after). It turned out ok, but it's not as easy as I would have liked. Oh, well- if they want easy they can ride down the road to the next trailhead..

Annnnnnother Hogan thread? That's cool. I hereby vow to do a ride there with you guys, sometime sort of soon. Unfortunately, I got bit by a brutal flu bug, so I don't foresee a new years day ride.
Holy crap, that's a lot to chew on. We really need to get some of these people we see out there riding to help us dig trails, especially with something of that magnitude, or else it might take decades!
Ran into a old acquaintance the other day on the trail, he was raving about how perfect Hogan is in the winter. I got to thinking, I don't think I've EVER seen you out here helping to build these trails. They don't just magically appear, you know.

I know, right? I'm thinking maybe Hogan should have it's own forum.
Sorry to hear yer sick, John. What a way to start the New Year! Get better soon.
Doing pretty good. It gets harder every year keeping old age away. The Sierra trail system has about doubled since you were here. You'll have to check it out next time through.
Happy New Year.

I may not have the best of everything, but I have the best everything that matters.
Heya icegeek, it's been a while. Right now it's all about the foothills, Summer's the best riding (though I wound up riding more out-of-state than in-state during the summer)
Did some riding and exploring yesterday checking out areas for future trails and finding old ones. I plan on riding Sunday. Ankle is slowing getting better. Saw only 1 other rider yesterday and she was on the road.
