Tamarancho Current Conditions
Has anyone ridden at Tamarancho recently?
I see on Facebook that the flow trail is open. How is the rest of the loop doing?
The last time I rode at Tamarancho (3 weeks ago), all of the trails were holding up well after the December rains, except for the beginning of Serpentine.
I'd ideally like to ride the loop on Wednesday....

Big rock ridge is perfect right now. Continued over to loma alta.. It was a sloggy mess. Earlier hiked up to carson falls and through nail trail/oat hill fr... Very soggy out there would expect tamo to be the same.
If you want to climb, big rock is pretty much DRY. Might try SR side of China camp tomorrow, although I will take the pavement up.. Bayview slog is in full effect too.

I rode there today; it's nothing like Gordon's pics but, its still wet in the usual areas. The rest of the place was looking good.

Just got back from my birthday ride. It was still sloppy in places but good fun. Saw two other riders. Started raining just as I got back to town. Another few doses of decent rain without decent time to recover in between and it's gonna be all over for quite awhile, methinks.
-
I tried to ride there today. I thought after 4 days of no rain, things would be ok. I was very wrong.
Rode to the 1st bridge on Serpentine and turned around. Monster brake bumps are developing in the wet dirt before the first narrow bridge. Front brakes morons!
Alchemist is a complete mess. Lots of mud. Idiots are widening the trail to avoid puddles and wet roots. I guess if you want Tamo trails to look like the super wide ones on UCSC, you're stoked. By the looks of it, B-17 and Broken Dam below Endor must also be wet and getting screwed up. Shame to see Alchemist get beat up, it's always been such a sweet ending to the Tamo loop.
Anyway, we are going to love this place to death this winter. I'm not planning to ride it anymore, but I suspect lots will. Damn shame.

B17 was actually pretty nice. Except for the tree. But yeah, I'm gonna stay away until this is all over. Time to overhaul some bikes.

Is there another tree down on B-17? We just cleared it out on Sunday.
-
Update. Endor (flow trail) is now closed. Expect conditions to deteriorate over the weekend. Maybe give tamarancho a rest.

There was as of noon yesterday, just after the Endor junction going clockwise. I thought it was the same one or would have mentioned it!

I think technically that his the start of Broken Dam but close enough to know how to get a chainsaw in there. I'll start working on finding a volunteer who has a chainsaw.

Any updates? Is Tamo drying or just staying wet?

I've been told it is still wet. After checking China Camp yesterday I'd think that would be accurate. China Camp was nearly perfect usually it is much drier than Tamarancho.
-
I rode it yesterday, some greasy spots (the usual ones) but not all that bad. The trail is clear, no downed trees. China Camp and the backside are in better riding condition.
-
Rode it today.
In a word, PRIMO!!
Now Go, Git, Ya, SUUUUUUUUUMMMMMM!!!!!

I rode there on Friday. The trails are in good shape...there are a few puddles. Most of the wet spots are on the climb up Broken Dam (clockwise direction), and on Alchemist.
-
I rode the main loop today. I normally do a few laps but there was enough mud on Broken Dam and Goldman that I just did Flow Trail laps after one lap.
On the plus side, the flow trail is in great shape.
-
Did the short peddle from Whites Hill to Endor and conditions were 10/10. Endor is still a bit slow from the softer soil. It was nice to see that the grippy conditions were keeping people off the brakes. A little bit of blue grove is beginning to develop. Nicely done!
-
Seemed in decent shape yesterday. Still occasionally a little sloppy in parts, but overall, quite nice. Definitely required cleaning the bikes off after, though.
-
Sweet today! Thought it would be pretty dry with no rain and warm weather but still a few muddy spots. Unlike last year there is much more water in the ground and it is still seeping out in spots and keeping it moist/wet. Last couple years the surface dried out after a day or so, not so after this year's rain. Endor was tacky but had a couple muddy spots that provided a little adrenaline rush as the tires slid 6 inches unexpectedly. Nice to be riding without fenders and back on singletrack though!

I'm working in the Presidio tomorrow (March 25) and may be able to skip out early.
Thinking of jetting up to Tamarancho.
Anyone been recently? Is it mucky?
Could also go to China Camp if it is better.
-
It was a bit sloppy last Saturday...it's been nice all week; I assume the trails are in good shape...with a few wet spots here and there. I'm doing an Ibis demo tomorrow, should be a nice day.
-
what time will you be around Tamo, and will you be on a large HD3 with 27.5+ tires to let me to borrow for a second?
heh…
-
Tamarancho should be OK, I rode China Camp yesterday and it was great, really dried out nicely. FYI, Sunshine Bicycles is having an Ibis demo event Fri/Sat with Mojo3, new HD3 and Ripley LS bikes available. Check their website for details.

The Endor flow trail remains open.
I haven't ridden at Tamarancho in quite some time. I'm sure there are some muddy spots but you're welcome to ride there. Provided you buy a day pass of course.
Bonus points for extra donations to the trail crew boss Jim Jacobsen or putting in a day of work.

I've purchased an annual pass. And also donated. Planning on a Sunday ride. Thanx!
Oh by the way. Which trail is the Endor flow trail? I know about the flow trail. Unless that's the actual name of the flow trail. Didn't know. Last time I rode tamarancho was the first week of December
-
It's the same flow trail and the only one in Marin County.
