    Tahoe Recommendations Friday, 7/14

Coworker and I are itching for some elevation and to get out of triple-digit heat. Heading to Tahoe (dunno if going to North or South Lake yet) this Friday the 14th. Would love to do a 20+ mile ride with 3000-4000 ft of climbing.

We've done Tahoe Meadows TRT to Red House/Marlette, etc. Have also done Toad's in South Lake as well as TRT around Squaw and Tahoe City.

Would love recommendations or local guidance. Will exchange wisdom for beer. Will be heading up for a day trip from Sacto. Thanks!

Cold Creek (climb the s/t) to the Rim trail/Monument Pass to Star Lake down the SL Connector back to Cold Creek is a good one. Might not quite be 3K but it will feel like it! Check to make sure the Rim trail is open all the way to Star Lake.

Friends don't let friends ride e-"bikes" on dirt.

Nature is not a sidewalk (I'm looking at you, MidPen).

I see what you did there. So do we know if Monument and the TRT is rideable over to Star Lake yet? 

Thanks all. We ended up going to Downieville. Bumped into a couple former co-workers and rode with them. Caught the noon shuttle and descended Sunrise and Butcher. Climbed Pauley's Creek (ouch!) the descended Big Boulder, 3rd, and 1st. Cleaned the rock face on 3rd divide at speed, which I was hoping to do. Fun day on the plus-size hardtail. Dudes at Yuba even had Dale's Pale Ale on tap!

I road from Stagecoach to Star yesterday all trees are cleared and its snow free, was gonna drop Connector and Cold creek but since I had just done that not long ago, I turned around and went back the way I came, Star->Monument->Stage->VanSickle is a sick downhill

Thanks TBC, with your wealth of experience up there, when do you expect it clear over Freil and down to Armstrong and beyond?

Gonna do Toads via Armstrong in the AM, expect some snow hiking but not a lot, couple I rode with today did it last weekend said it was quite a snow hiking adventure.

While swimming in Star lake yesterday I saw two bikers cross the Dam and head towards Freel, they did not return while I was there. Sure a few have done it and there are a fair number of rim trail hikers that have made there way, still looks to snowy for my tastes yet but I say within the next two weeks it will probably go,
