Soquel Demonstration Forest Trail workers need apply! 3/17/2013...this Sunday!

This seems to be the last trail work day of the year and we could use some bodies to finish up sections. Not sure what we will be working on but step up!!! With a big crew, we can get a lot done and "enhance" the trails for boostable fun time. You'll also get to learn first hand about exciting new plans. It's a great workout too.

So, who's in? Any new faces to show your support for the best legal ST in the Bay Area?

In. I'd love to see a slight reroute of the reroute by the helipad on Ridge. That right hand turn in the current reroute sucks. Every timei ride it I cuss at it. Off camber and it gets tighter as the turn goes. We just need to open it up a bit and maybe burm it a little.

Good to know it's not just me. I don't really understand their reasoning behind that reroute. I also noticed it's pretty rough through there, and not the fun kind.

Rumor has it there may be a skills park in the works with ladders and such....learn more if you come out and help. Any newbies interested in giving back?

Current thinking is working Ridge from Corral to how far we make it towards Sawpit. Checking in with the forest about vehicle access to the top. Hoping we can drive to helipad but I haven't been up Sulphur recently so am unsure about road conditions.

I'd love to do a little tuneup work on that turn Dan mentioned. I'd also like to do a little work on the reroute of the steep climb. I have a couple other ideas for little projects as well.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out there.

The road up sulfur springs looks like it is in pretty good shape. The loose soil seems like it is pretty tamped down near the top.

Yes, Sulphur is totally dry, no mud or even soft dirt.

The steep climb reroute definitely needs work as the dirt has settled. Luckily as of yesterday the soil is still somewhat damp on the reroute, and it will hopefully still be damp/workable come Sunday.

That turn that bugs Dan bugs me to no end as well...the obvious line is a much straighter one to the right of the bush, but presumably that was ruled out due to erosion worries.

Sorry, but newbies are not the ones we want building features. Wish I could make it.

Sorry, miscommunication. Newbies meaning new people who haven't helped with trail work...maybe I should have used a different word.

Also, my miscommunication, come "learn" about the plans for the park which include some mind blowing stuff. The stunts and trails will be primarily built by super awesome experts (with the help of workers like us).

Thanks and look forward to giving some love to this awesome trail system!

Genna and I will also be riding in again. We'll see you on Ridge.

It should be a perfect day out there. This could be your last chance this spring to give back to the Squashel Demo Forest!

    Did some recon today.
I think we can fix that reroute fairly easily. Just need to make the exit less sharp, and point it between 2 trees, then add a jump somewhere .

There is also a tree down on Ridge on the reroute that goes around the first climb. Needs a chainsaw to get things back to normal.

And I think I'll be riding in as well. Meet you guys and gals at the helipad.

Can't make this weekend, back to working weekends temperarily. Hopefully I'll be able to make next seasons, provided I can find a full time job that doesn't require manditory weekend work.

Thanks everyone for showing up Sunday and dialing in Demo for the masses. Great fun and great work out to boot!

We worked Ridge quite extensively. Clearing drainage, making berms, putting in features. Look for a fun new jump at the Braille Ridge intersection...hit it a couple of times and she is great fun. I hear there is a fun new skinny over by the old wall climb. We also spent a fair amount of time re-routing some of the new re-routes to make them more flowy! Nice!

Anyhow, look forward to working on the new Tractor trail and any new trail days that might pop up.

Thanks everyone...had a blast out there!

That log jump right before the turn off to Braille, it had a kinda awkward off camber turn right before so I was never as comfortable carrying speed into it. Anything done with that?

Other than filling it in a little, she is still the same. Just session it one of these days and you'll get that line no problem.

Yeah, it lines up well with the teeter totter, but those scare me. I'm hoping to ride tomorrow morning probably now that I'm done with finals so I'll check out all the awesome work you guys did.
