There is no trail by that name. Perhaps you're thinking of . . . Fightclub.

Actually, if someone could post a Google map with GPS coordinates, that would be great.

    Thanks

    From San Rafael,

    Head West on 3rd street
    then make a right
go up the hill for 2 miles, make another right
swing a left after the big oak tree
    and then down

I laughed at all the responces too, but not an unresonable request.

He did ask for the answer in a PM. He's been a member since 2007. There's a good chance someone here can, or cannot, vouch for him and let someone point him in the right directtion. We all love new trails, right?

Im guessing the OP knows the locale of said trail. It would be easier to ask one of your fellow riders on your next jaunt through these parts. It's not exactly a secret nor hard to find.

it's been ridable for a while... just go down that 'other' trail for a while and you'll see it off to the right

If you know the name, you can find Solstice by yourself. A little bit of googling, or talking to locals, or perusing maps will get you there. I found it without any rider help. So can you.

Under the circumstances, asking on an open forum about such trails seems, well, kind of lazy, and not such a good idea. It certainly doesn't make me want to help.

the best way to keep it the way everyone professes to want it, is to not even respond to this garbage on the internet. All this fight club mystery talk is horsesh!t. Yes, I see the irony of what I'm saying and doing.

This post and others like it should have zero replies.

    Dear nerds,
Thanks for your corny and useless dribble. Everyone is now dumber having had to read your opinions comparing this trail to a Brad Pitt movie. Yes, I can probably find this if I were to scour the interwebs for hours. Your paranoia is laughable... Yes, I'm sure there are rangers posing as bike enthusiasts on MTBR to learn of its whereabouts..

You gotta go up gunshot - which may or may not be the real name of the trail. I dunno. I'm useless.

edit - looks like gunshot is the real name. you can do a control f and find it on this map.

    http://mappery.com/maps/Marin-Bicycle-Map-Side-A.pdf

Go up gunshot. When you get to the intersection, go left. Look for a singletrack on the right.

That'll get you really darn close. When you get to the rock outcropping at the top, solstice is below on the left.

    Good luck!

Solstice is not an illegal trail; it happens to be on private property though. I'll tell you where it is.

Trail is on private property, getting to it from White's Hill or White's Hill Middle school used to mean treading on illegal to bikes trails. (Now legal)

    True story.

Once upon a time when the connecting trail was illegal to use during the wintery months, This guy decided to hit up Solstice one blustery Saturday morning. He was greeted by an open space ranger halfway to the "new" trail head and was asked to pay admission. After receiving all of the necessary paperwork continued to asked said ranger if it were alright to continue his journey to the snaking single track which is Solstice and also asked for directions as the terrain had changed and the rider was concerned that he had missed the trail head. The ranger obliged and bid him farewell. Obviously if it were a non-sanctioned trail a uniformed ranger wouldn't point the way and give permission to ride.

Solstice is a social trail on private property it will not be "illegal" until the property owner declares it off limits. Yes, it would be wise to not advertise but you are doing no one a disservice by directing an interested rider to it's location.

Okay, who got their feelings hurt and called me a "jukasss" ? Thanks for the anonymous rep ding too!
My comment was pretty blunt I guess, but it refers to when these type of posts come up in marin, there are always quite a few condescending replies about how its Secret! Fight Club! Dont ask on the internet! and so on. All this does is generate more chatter and interest in said location.

If the goal really is to keep it quiet and off the internet, then dont respond.

What seems to happen though is quite different, and some poor dude looking for a new piece of trail gets skewered by these hypocritical responses, presumably from people who visit other riding areas but never ask for tips or info from locals there. That might be somebody's else's Fight club right? It's the double standard localism that bothers me-and I've been riding in Marin for 20 years.

Either help him out or say nothing. I'm for sayin' nothing on the internet, but in real life I dont mind showing people new stuff.

    It's all good

I<3bicycle's route up Gunshot will have the OP questioning why he asked for directions to this alleged trail. Specially after taking a wrong turn at the top ending up on 680 instead.
Wait whuuut, who did he tell you that!?!?....
