Skyline Blvd to the the coast route?

Anyone know if there is a way to get from Skyline (35) all the way down to the coast (1) on a MTB? Roads don't count but fireroads do. Would be sweet to start in an open space or Skeggs and meander over the hills to the beach..

I'm guessing that a lot of the land is private/ranchland and not passable. But maybe someone knows of a super secret way?

In 96 I rode from Palo Alto to half moon bay on some trail that were not marked yet! Great ride as I recall.

I wish. There's a lot of ranch/private land in the way. I think the only trail is skyline to sea trail through Big Basin, which of course, is not open to bikes. If I did know a secret way though, I don't think I would blab about it on a public forum. A fun ride to do is a loop in Skeggs (ECDM), then head out either CM-08 or CM-07 to star hill rd --> Tunitas Ck Rd, then down grabtown gulch trail thru Purisima Redwoods OSP. That'll get you within 4 miles of the coast. There are roads involved, but they are very infrequently traveled and scenic.

I think MROSD is buying land to connect purissima to Burley Murray and 'to the sea'

Once a year there's a Skeggs to Half Moon Bay and back ride, which does cover quite a bit of road.
    Charlie's annual Labor Day ride

Whittemore Gulch in Purisima Creek Redwoods State Park probably gets you closed to the sea.
Skyline to the Sea trail starting at Saratoga Gap is a nice long ride through Big Basin to Wadell beach, unfortunately not entirely bike legal.
Ward road, through Portola Park, up Butano Ridge and down Johannsen in Big Basin, Chalk Mountain to the sea (or via Butano State Park) is a nice long ride too, just ignore a few "no bikes" and "no trespassing" signs......
Demonstration Forest and Aptos Creek Fire road gets you to the sea.
