Scotts Flat or Bullards Bar? This weekend, but with a boat too!

In my opinion, Scotts Flat is better for riding, but I have heard that if we have a boat AND bikes, that Bullards Bar might be better.

In fact, a few people would honestly rather wakeboard than ride.

Any opinions which is best? Probably won't be camping overnight.

By the way, thanks for all the help in my exploration of Northern California. I ask these questions often, and get great advice often.

For both Bullards no question. It's been a long time since I've ridden up there (bike) but great ride and views. The lake make sure to launch at Emerald Bay (dam) as Dark Day is too sketchy when it's this low. Go up the river arm in the AM and you'll more than likely be alone until about 11 especially on Sunday. Free launch and no quagga muscle inspection yet.

I live a few miles from Scotts Flat Lake.

The area near SF lake has some unofficial trails which are harder to find for people new to the area, whereas Bullards stuff is generally better signed and offers more singletrack right by the lake, most of which is excellent XC stuff (I enjoy it on a SS).

As for boating, I'm pretty sure that Bullards is bigger or at least has more interesting areas to explore.

Here is what the marina probably will look like, even though this was last December.

Bullards has a Facebook page. You could enquire there about water levels.

I haven't had much luck with bullards bar. The only time I've ever gotten ticks (three times) were all at bullards bar, and all on separate occasions. Also some of the worst poison oak I've ever had was from riding there. I'd imagine ticks and poisonoak are out in full force now. That said, I like the riding at bullards more and the lake is wayyy bigger.
